  • Have always thought the camera man stays away from the feet too much. Quite often rewind to see what the judges have commented on, sometimes see it but more often than not the camera doesn't pick it up.

Hopefully tonight a 'dancer' won't be voted off.

I might be wrong but thought the professional chose the music.

Thanks for the explanation Frank I can't dance so it's hard for me to see what you dancers can in terms of feet to body.

Lizzie & Frank glad it just wasn't me that thought that about cameraman.

Let's see what happens tonight image

Kef we ancients learned to dance at an early age in my case I was 11 when I started. In those days nearly every Church hall would hold a weekly dance for the youngsters with the elders keeping a beady eye on proceedings. Cadets Scouts Guides and Boys Brigade would hold monthly dances we went to them all as it worked our you could dance at least twice a week. Often it would be the Vicars wife or some local playing Piano or Records on a wind up player though our Cadets and some of the others had live bands. I started dance lessons for real after being taught what we called Old Fashioned Dancing by the ladies where my Mother and Dad Danced competitions, there would be dance breaks between the Dance off's and always a shortage of male partners so young as I was I got involved. Joan went to Dance lessons from age five as did most girls who's parents could afford it, the segregated girls schools also did dance lessons as part of the curriculum, all came naturally to us, my own children went to dance lessons as do my Grandchildren, they do modern including Latin. We had senior school dances the only time we mixed with the girls from the high school next to us, the teachers would make sure we danced apart or open order we called it, they would push a book like War and peace between us as we danced to make sure only hands contacted each other, for one night we all danced like Judy, a sight to behold I am sure.

    Frank.

  • Lived through those times, Frank. The first dance I learned was The Valeta...and oh, those steel gramophone needles that had to be changed after playing a couple of records.  image

David I think everyone started with the Valeta and Military two step, It was upwards and on after that with the Chrysanthemum Waltz and the Royal Empress Tango. It all started with the basic Waltz, we went round in circles until we got motion sickness a sick bag strapped to the chest helped. That skill got me many a beer in Germany and Austria they loved the way we waltzed so freely, they were much more staid.

I could not believe tonight, Caroline in the dance off never, we knew Alison would go unless Caroline fell over slid across the floor and bit Craig's leg. Fix comes to mind.

    Frank.

I don't think many of my generation can dance and certainly had no opportunity to learn at school / youth clubs or places. Pleased that many youngsters are now privately learning to dance.  My niece aged 15 has a heck of a journey but applied and was selected 2 yrs ago to train with the Northern Ballet one night a week,  Saturday's and school hols she lives to dance. Obviously she takes after me imageimage

The dance off must have been difficult for Alison knowing she didn't have a chance of going through, very gracious comments and a nice lady image Must be bye bye Judy next week.

  • Caroline in the dance-off, Judy through to next week.....I just don't understand. Now I'm beginning to resent Judy.....and her son Andy lost today.

Probably Alison was reaching the end of her time, but I still felt quite sorry for her.

  • Felt sorry for Alison, as Frank said,  unless Caroline fell over, it was obvious, Alison would go home.

Fed up with Judy, she really must go home next week.

Pleased to see Alison go as she and Judy were the only ones left who really don't use their feet properly although Alison does at least feel the music and respond to it.

Judy is so wooden because she has no inate musicality and seems not t be being taught any by Anton who should be concentrating on tecahing her to dance and not clowing around.   I hope the voting public gets it right next week.

I also wish the production team would concentrate on good camera work and not fancy lighting effects.  I want to see how clever the dancers are, not how fancy camera angles and effects.   Save those for the professionals' dance and the guest singer.

  • My wife and I are getting really suspicious about this. When it was announced that Alison was in the dance, we both said and the next one in the dance off will be a good one. We really need to see a percentage of voting.
