I also said that I had deep sleep because I'd been dreaming, I knew that you dream during the REM stage which is the final stage of sleep, so though it wash the deepest when actually it isn't, so I was wrong too (sort of image).

Do you have a home phone line Pauline?  Could you take that upstairs instead of the mobile?

I've used Nytol when it gets too bad, it doesn't make you drowsy as such or knock you out like I expected but it helps you relax and if I did wake up when taking it I did manage to get to sleep again very easily, in fact I had been up in the night (OH told me) and I didn't know so must have gone back to sleep straight away.

I've also tried Valerian but didn't think it was as good and made me have really weird dreams image

Hope you get a better night's sleep tonight x

Two hours sleep is enough for me most nights, quick power nap then up, I quite often post here at 2 -3 am.

I do drink loads of coffee, but that makes no difference because when I am really tired, I sleep

I am on the go all day, rarely sit down, but thats the way I like it.

I look on sleep as a waste of time, I could be catching up on reading, knitting, blogging.

The worst thing to do is worry about it, just get up and do something you love to do.Margaret Thatcher functioned very well on only 3 to 4 hours a night.

"They" reckon its quality rather than quantity of sleep that counts, Lyn you must be a very efficient sleeper (when you arent out axe murdering;) ), im the opposite, it dosent matter how much i sleep, i rarely hit stage 3 or 4 which is the sleep that makes you feel rested, have been put on meds to stay awake in the day image

Are you in a position to take an aftefnoon nap? Not if you have to work though.

I am not always that bad, as I said, every so often I just hit the pillow and sleep, but if I dont, I just get up and do something.

I have tried all the remedies that are suggested, just dont fight it anymore.

Valerian, bananas, warm milk ( must be warm ) 1 drop of lavender or chamomile on a tissue under pillow, mindfulness, feel every detail if your position and surroundings, eg notice the sheets and how they feel...it may bore you to sleep?! Def avoid blue light, I like the sound of the sea, you can get cc'd' s of that sort if thing, I gad 1 meditation one I've never heard more than halfway through as it always put me to sleep!pituitary gland is responsible for body clock, reflexology point is in the middle under your big you, you could try gently massaging that, have a reflexology session every month if possible, it' s incredible what it can do for you, I used to have it and thought it was so amazing I trained to do it myself

Mindfulness.....I've been trying to think if that word all day Louise!!  That's what I do in the bath (ref my previous post) to totally relax image

Louise, you are so good image I listen to Einaudi 'Le Onde' for my mindfulness plus a couple of others, that was composed to sound like the sea (well the ocean, hence the name).  I wish you live closer and you could I'd reflexology on me image

Me too! I' m extremely out of practice so when my babies go to school I'll be wanting victims...er, clients! to do freebies on for a few weeks before I start charging again, I' m less out of practice with aromatherapy as I use it almost daily, and of course I do my own make up so I don' t get out of oractice with that!

Please please let me be top of your practice list.....and I wouldn't dream of having it for nothing image

  • As for the mobile phone...please keep it at least 3-4 metres away from your head when sleeping as the wavelengths it transmits on interfere with our brainwave patterns. Read this recently and have relocated mine. Apart from that nurses advised me when I had a period of insomnia to follow a bedtime routine you would give to a baby...milky drink ( contains triptophan to aid sleep naturally) and a warm bath. Am sure listening out for the phone knowing other half is on the road probably increases worry and doesnt help...not sure what you can do about that one !! image
