I go down and inspect the plum tree Ouillins Golden Gage daily. The plums change from green to yellow and that is when they are ripe to eat. Could it be jackdaws or crows especially if they are similar looking in the green stage
,I have known them strip a tree in a day or two.we had a walnut tree at a agriculture collage I worked at and they were a pest also on the plum and apple trees.
