I think plastics generally don't like sunlight. Might be an out of date thought image

I'd agree with that. I think most plastics degrade although it may take a long time. With something like a pond, you  don't want it failing when it takes so much time and effort to do and is a real pain to sort. Aesthetically, it's always better to have as little showing as possible anyway. Different sizes of rocks, pebbles and gravel to merge with the paddle stones and the planting would be the best idea.

Steve - I particularly like that plant in the top right hand corner of your pic. Is it Checkshirtius drippinweticus? imageimage

Glad you're enjoying the wildlife that's already coming in Steve. The real reward for all your hard work image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Great job Steve. Some tweaking and then sit back and enjoyimage

  • This is pre-formed fibreglass and apparently should last forever...

  • Admittedly not quite as attractive as a liner but it suited what I needed and I am planting ajuga round what in the pictures would be 'the back' and this will hopefully camouflage it a bit!

Have got plenty of that plant Steve, I have a garden full of it, you are welcome to a ton!

Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

  • It has been a while since any updates so here is a pic from today!

  • Breaking news - I'm annoyed with the fibreglass liner so I will be removing it, enlarging the pond and putting in a liner instead! image
