I think that there is more difference between personalities than there is between the genders.
There is NOT equal pay for men and women in the UK.
Women and men have been brainwashed by the culture that they grew up in to believe that there are certain things that a woman can and may do and certain things that a man can and may do. By 'culture' I mean the pressure within your family. I was very lucky to have far more influence from my father than my mother; so I believe that I can do virtually anything, except knitting
As I am now approaching 30 () I realise that there are limitations to my strength. But that would apply to a man also. In my 20s, I was a truck driver doing household removals (I needed a break between being a graphic designer and being an artist) and though I could not carry as much weight as a large man (or woman) my brain took over and I figured out a way to do the task.
The only limitations are imposed by our conditioning and our inability to get rid of it!
I agree art. A lot of brainwashing goes on. I'm also approaching thirty and can't physically do what I used to be able to do which is very frustrating, but I just take more breaks! I probably had more influence from my Dad too as he was always building stuff and doing DIY, but I also sew - I do it for a living!
My mum once asked me if I made my husband's breakfast for him before he went to work...... yeh - as if! I didn't see him offering to get up and make mine when I worked double the hours he did either!
I hold doors open for everyone - man, woman or alien with three heads. It's a common courtesy and it annoys me if women see it as anything else. I always thank someone holding a door for me. Equality surely means just that - do as you would be done by, and be courteous to others whatever the gender.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
FG I once held the door open at Horrids (Harrods) for some people coming in behind me (as one does) and about 6 Japanese business men walked in and completely ignored me. I said v. loudly 'Excuse me but I think you have forgotten something'. They all turned round, very alarmed; 'You have forgotten your MANNERS'. They all looked appropriately ashamed Job done.
Ha ha Artjak, that sounds like something I'd have done. As I said before I hold doors for everyone too and the number of times I have said 'THANKYOU' very loudly to someone rude....I would be rich if there was a £ each time. Male or female there is no account for bad manners
Aww Bekkie, so do I. My OH has took me off for making the boys lunches when they are big enough to do it themselves, my argument 'I'm their mum' his argument 'they have little else to do and you and I had to do our own'.......they are making their own (sometimes) now

When my kids were at school they had to draw pictures of mummy and daddy. 'Daddy' going to work in the car. 'Mummy' washing up.
For their entire young lives mummy was the one who went off to work in the car and daddy looked after the house and kids.
and they never called us mummy and daddy
In the sticks near Peterborough
