Lyn - thank you so much for all those plants. You are a star. I was astonished and delighted,I soon won't be able to see the water for all the vegetation!!
Fidgetbones - many thanks for the aquilegia seeds. And two extra varieties, that's very kind of you
I've been really busy over the past couple of days, and was off on a day trip to Loch Lomond all day today (Wednesday).
fidgetbones, I received the salvia and aquilegia seeds on Monday. Thank you .
Fishy, received your envelope today. Thank you too .
Perki, I replied to your PM a little while ago .
You'll never guess what happened today on my coach trip !
The coach picked my Mum and I up at 10.15am in the village where we live. 15 minutes into our journey, the driver took a particular exit from a roundabout and I said to my Mum, jokingly, "Oh look ! We are going to Dobbies !"
A few minutes later, the driver announced over his intercom..."We will be stopping at Dobbies Garden Centre for 55 minutes, as I have to take a break to keep to the rules for my tachograph."
Mum and I just couldn't stop laughing !
Mind you, the bus had left from Berwick Upon Tweed at 8am, so the driver and some of the passengers had already been travelling for over 2 hours.
We went into the garden centre to have a look around. I ended up buying some plant labels and 4 more packets of seeds !
I bought a packet each of Delphinium - Magic Fountains, Delphinium - Delight Mix, Lobelia - White Lady and Forget-Me-Not - Royal Blue.
We then got back on the coach to continue on our journey to Loch Lomond, which is roughly 70 miles West of where I live. We arrived there at 1pm and were told to be back on the coach for 4.45pm.
We had a lovely walk through some woodland, had our lunch at a picnic table beside the edge of the loch, then we went on a 40 minute boat trip around the loch.
After that, we still had over an hour to kill before we had to get back on the coach, so we decided to have a look around the shops. (The coach was parked at Loch Lomond Shores, near Balloch - There is a small shopping complex, a sea life centre, bird of prey centre as well as the woodland walks and the boat trip).
The first shop we went into was an RSPB shop. Right inside the door, to my left, an assistant was hanging up PACKETS OF SEED ! .
Yes, you got it...I managed to persuade myself that I "NEEDED" some of that seed...Wildflower Seed !
He he ! I bought a packet each of - Flax, Globe Thistle, Valerian, Coreopsis and Millet !
So, even on a non-gardening day out, I STILL managed to come home with NINE more packets of seed !
My name is PinkandWhitePoppy and I am a SEEDAHOLIC ! .
Fishy, the aquilegias are labelled as to the plants they came off. However, with the aid of a few bees, they are very promiscuous, and you never know what might turn up. Sometimes they come true, others you get some weird variation. Good luck.
Thanks fidgetbones - I've heard about aquilegias being a bit naughty but if the bees are happy with them, then I will be
Poppy - that's quite normal as bekkie says. I find it so hard to walk past a seed display without buying a packet whether I've got room for the potential plants or not I'm glad you enjoyed Loch Lomond, its been many a year now since I've been there but then its quite a way from Northamptonshire.
I know this is really cheeky and pushing it a bit But does anyone have any grass seed they want rid of? Just ordinary lawn seed cos I have bare soil at one end of the pond and the dogs keep scattering it with their clumsy feet. Well I do too but that's not the point.
Hi fishy, what about some ornamental grass ? I have some which is like a course type grass it's not a close type plant , how's about I send you some seed , grow it in a pot and judge for yourself ? Right now can't remember if I have your address if not pm me please
