  • I have a phasmid vivarium in the class and some of the young phasmids can have their colour changed by eating lichen like the type in the pic below. So I want to do that in my class to show how environments and diet can change a species appearrance image Sadly I've looked everywhere and cant find lichen like this :/

    Justin, I havent got much in the garden, I was hoping for a walk on Dartmoor, but I cant leave mum for that long.

    Here is a photo of what is in the garden, there will be more next year, doesnt help you now though.  If you want this I will send it, but just say if its not good.

    Justin - that's quite fascinating and reminds me of the story of the moth (can't remember the species) that changed from a pale brown to dark brown due to pollution given off from nearby industrial chimneys. It adapted to its environment albeit one created by humans. Am I on the right track? image
