Hi everyone, first time Ive posted on the forum but couldnt resist this particular thread. Living just a few miles from David Austin Im a frequent visitor and never seem to manage to come away empty handed. My latest purchase is Munstead Wood which has been added to Mortimer Sackler, Molineaux, Kiftsgate, Rosy Cushion, Gertrude Jekyll, Mayflower and Paul's Noel. I also inherited Wendy Cousins and Silver Jubilee when I purchased the house (I still have one unidentified). I also have Glorianna growing with Mortimer Sackler up an Archway. I'm planning to move Glorianna because its too rigid and very thorny and am considering replacing it with Shorpshire Lad. I'm a bit worried that it might be a bit too peachy against the pink of Mortimer Sackler so if anyone has any ideas re an alternative please let me know. Once Ive worked out how to post photos I'll add them.
The 4 David Austin roses I bought from his nursery and the 1 Compasssion rose from a garden centre have all arrived safely in France. Now I must find time to plant them. The garden seems to have got almost out of control in the 2 weeks we've been away. Lady Emma Hamilton and Crown Princess Margareta have flowered constantly in their pots since I bought them nearly 2 weeks ago.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
hi Yviestevie.... those are lovely roses you have...I've grown a few in the past..currently have Mortimer Sackler...a rose that blends so well with Clematis 'Niobe'...I find... but if you want another rose then perhaps William Shakespeare 2000, might be suitable..there is a photo posted of it already on this thread, by Busy Lizzie I think...few pages back... this one sounds as though it's one of Austin's best so far...from the accounts I've read... don't have it myself...
Hi David!! Of course you didn't !! No need for an apology at all; I've been out all day and just got in. And while I was out I was looking at (more) roses!! But, I had no impulse to buy because the next lot will be bare root ones

Good to know, Bev.....I'm rarely serious in my posts (maybe sometimes) and other posters seem to know when to take me serious.
Indeed and it was very difficult. Now I'm really looking properly, I have found a couple of places I can drive to in Kent. I do love just looking around to see what they have, you know? I LOVE LOVE LOVE roses, Dhalia's, Hostas, all sorts. But yes, I have my eyes all over roses for the time being and I'm enjoying looking at all the different types there are - I never knew there were so many!

Hi Lizzie glad to hear that your new roses have arrived safely, missed you on Hello.
Hello Yviestevie, I'm sure the rose growers will be chatting to you soon.
Bev, hope you weren't offended by this reply....you usually comment pretty promptly and you haven't posted since.
I know sometimes people can misconstrue messages and the last thing I would want is to upset you...or anyone else for that matter.
