It will be a bit patchy & look rather thin for ages but it will start to thicken up when you start to cut it. In another couple of weeks it will be fairly obvious if there are any areas where the seed hasnt germinated or has been washed away & you could put a little extra seed there - but for the moment it looks just as it should.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
I am very happy, my only concern at the moment is the lack of grass coming through around the tree area. I was going to let things run its course this year and reseed the patches in the spring. Would this be the best thing to do? I do not really want to walk all over it while it is at this tender stage.

It will soon be a green haze, then patchy green and then a green sward. Have you got the mower sharpened?
It is still coming through, very patchy....

Thanks buddy, yet again, I only have a rotary mower so all is good, The green is so vibrant.
My mower is a bosch rotary mower, it has 3 height settings should I use the higest for the first cut?
Thanks, I will try and find the mowers manual online and look at the height settings.
Yep just checked and it cuts between 20mm to 60mm, so I will try it on setting 3 and it it needs a little more I will try setting 2.
If the grass doesn't germinate under the tree you can get seed for shady areas in smallish packets.
Day 13, still looking really patchy.
