They're all out today. Lily beetle squashed. Yellow butterfly(brimstone?),a pair of commas, small tortoiseshell, peacock. Also big bumblebees. And lots of sunshine. And I found an owl pellet under the oak.

  • Hoorah! I have just found a newt in our pond.

I was getting rid of some blanket weed using a cane and I pulled out a leaf with a newt clinging to the cane. I had a look at it and it was a common newt. I put it back into the pond and he swam back into the sludge at the bottom of the pond.

I also have a boatman who is very active now and has obviously come out of hibernation.

I couldn't get the smile off my face afterwards - I created the pond last May and it's my first newt.image

Living on the road to Finchingfield the sunny weather has promoted the fiirst hatch of middle aged bikers.Dressed in their leathers they hope to attract the overwintering emerging long legged biker moths.

These are the first this year, later they meet in the Fox and reminince.

It's a good hobby, but the youngsters drive too fast.

i am not anti and at our age a long leisurely drive is better, gardeners do not want a quick fix, I am planting now for my grandaughter and get so much pleasure thinking about the photos that I am taking will be enjoyed later.
