Just done the first Compost Master event of the year in King's Lynn; gazebo blew over in wild and windy conditions - my colleague and I finished feeling as if we had been sand blasted!image But picked up a possible 2 more gigs. Sat eve bump.

Hi Artjak - what on earth is a Compost Master event - tell us more please!

What a gale we've had down here over the last 30 odd hours, good job I re-staked my delphiniums on Sat, but today has been marginally better (been up in Warwickshire) except for being caught up in the home queue of Badminton Horse Trials on the A46.

Lizzie, Norfolk Council and a charity called Garden Organic train volunteers to teach people about home composting as it saves quite a lot of material going to landfill - 60% of household waste could be composted at home. As you may have guessed I am rather passionate about thisimage. Quite a few other Councils have the scheme as well; I saw a map when I went to the Master Composter's conference last Autumn and was surprised at how many areas have the scheme.image

York council collect our garden waste, hot compost it and then once a month in spring and summer we can go to the tip and collect free as much compost as we want.  I find that my own compost is always a bit wet and lumpy so mixing it with the council's give a good compromise.

Maureen, that is so brilliant. I am just about to PM youimage

Today it has been 'help for flooded seedlings' day. All the little plants for the Somerset flood appeal are now hardening off in gravel trays. We have had so much rain and hail here today that I am just about to go out for the 3rd time to empty the water out of the gravel trays and mainly into my shoesimageimage
