It will look terrific Chris. You'll have a lovely space in the summer and by next summer it'll look like it's always been there. image

I can highly recommend some native primulas, snowdrops and some of the pale cream and white crocus for this time of year too. I've got loads of them in a shady narrow border at the back and they glow.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

I'm considering using logs as you did.  Now a few years later, do you still love these?  Did you treat them with anything first?

We've had great before and after pics, an update would be fascinating now the plantings had chance to establish!

I'll update the thread with a few pictures at the weekend, not had chance to get out there tonight.

A few plants didn't establish as hoped, but planted some great ferns.

Looking forward to seeing an update. We are hoping to do something similar in our 'secret garden' amongst the fruit trees.

Can I ask how you found the issues with movement and slipperiness? I googled the boot seg thing further up the thread but not having any luck; I don't know what I'm looking for!

And how thick did you cut the logs? We will be starting with prep this weekend and it'll be a good job to get done.

My husband and I love your pathway and are interested in doing something similar, but we have a few questions.  How is it holding up over the years?  Do you recommend treating the wood with sealant first; if so, what kind?  We live in a desert area with minimum moisture and our logs will be in full sun. We will gladly take any helpful tips.  Thank you.

Wow how time has gone by! Will get some updates pics on here soon. Planting didn’t establish as well as hoped for various reasons but still love it.
