Strawberry Jam -Equipment 1 Microwave plus 1 Glass Bowl!
    450g Strawberries
    1 Tablespoonful Lemon Juice
350g Caster Sugar (Not Granulated & Not Jam Sugar)

Wash & Hull strawberries  and put in 2.8litre bowl with Lemon Juice
    Cook on High for 4-5mins
    Add Sugar and stir well
    Cook on High 11-12 mins
Pour into sterilised jars (I pour boiling water into clean jars and on tops seperately to sterilize) Makes 1/2Kg (or 1Lb)

You can gross this recipe up but by no more than 3 as it goes funny eg do 3 x 3 Batches

I do this with raspberries too and it works a treat. Kepps 2/3mths.

    Hi Everyone

Yes, Pushkin has decided the best place to sunbathe is in the Fig Tree Pot. Puss of Leisure!
How do I downsize photos??? They look enormous on here.
Here is the Lunar Calender 15-24th June
15th June - Flower Day Moon descending in Libra. Moon perigee so no gardening before 6am (Don't think you would have done! However don't forget the 5hr Rule -It is wise not to garden 5hrs before or 5hrs after perigee/apogee &noeuds) Layer Wysterias and other Spring Flowering Shrubs. Divide Spring bulbs if leaves have yellowed and faded or lift to store for replanting in Autumn in different areas. Plant out Broccoli sown 9-11th May (Something has munched mine so may have to buy in plants on next UK visit to bulk up quick sowing on next Leaf or Flower Day)
16-17th June - Leaf Days Moon descending but Noeud ascending so no gardening after 1.45pm on 16th. - Plant out Celery sown 14-16th April trimming roots and tops beforehand. (I have done this with some beetroot plants that I bought last week and they are already re-sprouting well, so this advice for leeks also works with other plantlets.
18-19th June - Fruit Days. Moon ascending in Leo -Thin out apples and pears leaving 2 fruit on each stalk by removing the centre one in apples and an outer one in pears.
On Fanned Trees cut back non productive branches at the 5th leaf -Sterile eyes will then be encouraged to become active for next season. (Learnt this at Pruning and Grafting Bio-dynamic Class last night)
20/21/22 June - Root Days Moon descending in Virgo -Harvest New Potatoes as you need them leaving balance to grow on and making sure that you earth up the area around pulled tubers well. If leaves have yellowed lift garlic/onions and shallots. Thin out Carrots and Winter Radish sown 15-17th May and Chicory sown 3-4th June. Plant out Leeks sown 6-8th May remembering to top and tail them first.
23-24th June - Flower Days - Moon descending in Libra -Plant out Cauliflowers sown 9-11th May burying the first leaves to encourage stronger rooting. Water well with Comfrey and Nettle Brew to encourage swift growth of rooting system.

Munching our way through Spring Onions a bit too rapidly -Could I get another crop in do you think?? Obelixx how and when did you 'stop' your potimarrons (mini pumpkins) so that fruit form and how many did you leave on plant to grow on -I have 5 flower buds already on one plant and I planted out 5 Orange and 6 Pattypans! Runner and French Beans climbing well as are Mangetouts. Have eaten first crop peas and planted Mesclun and Rocket in space with Mouli behind.

    Happy Gardening! and Bon Weekend!

Hi BF - I stop mine after 3 or 4 fruit on the potimarrons/Utchi Kuri and 2 or 3 on the bigger ones like Crown prince.   That worked well in Belgium where there is rarely a lack of rain but was too many last year and the Sweet Dumplings were very dry.  Not growing them this year.

I should have thought you can sow spring onions all year really if you grow them in tubs in the g'house in winter.

Planning to plant Thai and cinnamon basil between the toms in the PT.  Good idea or not?   I have space to grow them separately too.

The Min of Agriculture here in France is currently running Courses for up and coming Farmers in Lunar Planning for Crops in addition to BioDynamic Methods.
The French Ministry of Agriculture are running courses in lunar planning for farmers? Are you serious? Do you have a reference for that?

Oberlix , always plant marigolds and basil in g/h , seems to compliment toms , cucumbers & peppers

    P J , impressive web site

BF ,  thanks for update , will have to thin out pears and apples never done it before but this is the first year for 2 pear trees at allotment and surprised at the amount of fruit
It looks like a bumper crop of berries this year
The new autumn raspberry bed is doing better than expected
Never done so much watering at plot this year

All the best to everybody  B)

It works for me and frankly, no-one is going to invest in double blind experiments because there's no money in the results.   Lunar gardening requires fewer, if any, chemicals.  Further more, lunar gardening has been around for millennia, double blind experiments not so much yet all sorts of "observed" science has since been proven to be correct.

Apart form anything else it gives me focus - such a large plot now and so much to do I can't just head off to do one job and be distracted by another or nothing gets done.  Having days allocated for flowers, fruits, leaves and roots as well as maintenance suits me down to the ground, literally.

Have you heard of Tresillian gardens?   Seems to work there too.
