I completely ignore the moon when gardening, and it works for me, so which method is better? Obviously mine, because it is simpler. Since Lunar gardening (a form of Astrology) is not supported by any solid evidence, only by confirmational bias, and it is based on an erroneous understanding of science, I will continue to ignore it. Life is too short for all that woo!
Read it all all the way through. It supports moon gardening.
No it doesn't, it supports planting when the soil temperature is right. Moon gardeners tend to plant later in Spring, thus avoiding late cold spells, and they plant earlier in Autumn, when the soil is still warm. It is nothing to do with the moon, it is all to do with soil temperature. Plant later in Spring and earlier in Autumn and you will get better results regardless of the phase of the moon or the astrological sign. That is what the article suggests. "But the reason it works is different from the one they claim."
Years ago I sowed a whole load of seeds and had very poor results. No idea why. Then I read something about lunar gardening and gave it a go and sowed the same seeds again and bingo. Fantastic germination rates and no wilting. Same for some cuttings I took.
These days I don't care what the thinking behind it is, I find it's a useful planning guide. I had a large garden then and now have a huge one so anything that keeps me focused on set tasks instead of wandering off because I've been distracted by a weed to pull or a branch to prune or something to divide is good. Now I'm fully retired and living in a new (but old) house with I find I am very busy with other projects and activities in and out of the home so time management matters.
Results so far are encouraging so I'll carry on.

Indeed.
So if it works, for whatever reason, and they enjoy doing it...I say let them do it.
I reckon most scientific discoveries are accidents and made by observation because, all too often, they're asking the wrong question or doing a different experiment.
No money for anyone in proving moon gardening works as it would reduce demands for fertilisers and pesticides and yet Italian seed packets say when to sow according to the moon phases and French gardening magazines produce everything from one sheet posters of a simple lunar calendar to entire booklets with the lunar gardening year detailed.
My observation is that the lunar cycle works for me. I suggest you do what works for you and let others be and go scoff at something else. It's not as if we're doing anything ridiculous like planting upside down or in the wrong soil or climate for the plant, things for which friendly advice would be appropriate.
