My friend's two children were put in remedial classes in mainstream school so she took them out, "sold a kidney" and sent them to Steiner. They're both dentists now.
Pansyface -Was he at Michael Hall School in Forest Row Sussex? My mother belonged to the Biodynamic association gardens opposite and worked in with Weleda plus was very high up in the Anthraposophical Society -hence the reason I was weaned on BD Gardening. Plant Pauper -This is great news -The schools are excellent. - Will look at this again when I have finished weeding border. Greenhouse too hot -30C with windows open!!
I have some potatoes to finish planting this pm and some leek plugs to plant out too and I suppose a root day is good for planting shrubs so they settle in well - 2 conifers that go purple/bronze in winter and 3 cornus alba sibiricas for winter stem colour.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Haven't done the shrubs as I was expecting the beds for potatoes and leeks to have been weeded but the under gardener just did the weeding equivalent of waving a damp cloth at surfaces needing dusting without moving the ornaments or doing cobwebs below or above. That meant time wasted by me taking out deep rooted lords and ladies, creeping buttercup and bindweed along with clumps of grass.......
The intended leek bed is too claggy still so they've gone in the future tomato bed which I also had to weed again before piling on loads of compost.
You asked about tomatoes BF - Green Zebra, Big Yellow Zebra, Joyau d'Oaxaca, Miel du Mexique, Coeur de Boeuf, Gregori ALtaï, Cherokee Chocolate, Black Ethiopian, Brandywine Noire and Valencia.

Hi -Cherokee Chocolate and Brandywine worked well year before last. Really tasty. Will buy some plants at Brittany Fair w/e 21/22nd as really too early here and must get some sowing done in the greenhouse, which is a better temperature today as very cloudy and cooler. So glad Wembley worked out well -Looking forward to The Grand National on Saturday. Will be glued to the TV. My Granny always betted and came in 1/2 and 3rd every year like clockwork. I've managed a few Winners, but not easy to bet through PMU in France. They don't seem so keen on listing this race preferring the Flat or Trotting. We got married on Grand National Day 40yrs ago!!! -The National changed the date that year and we both muttered en route down the aisle at 3.15pm -We've just missed the National. The vicar wasn't too happy either as he had his old jeans on under his glory robes as we had stopped him gardening that afternoon, as, as now it had been far too wet and cold to get out onto the Plot. -It was however a real Village Hop and a great day. Pansyface -I love the Eurythmy Dance story. Up at 5am this morning to do Farmer's Market -despite yawning, I must get out and tussle with nettles again -Found holes in my gloves yesterday and stung to bits. Bought new pair today ready to do Battle!! Happy Gardening!
Bio , Hello , hope you did well at the Grand National , obviously a special day for you
Green Manure - Used a summer mix from Suffolk Herbs last year and dug it in at end of October , hardly any weeds grown on the 2 beds , very pleased and have planted 1st & 2nd early potatoes in the beds Over winter sewed Gazing Rye again from Suffolk Herbs & just roughly dug it in , will let you know what I think of it The bed with clover as green manure which was a real problem , I put platic sacks over it last year , just taken they off and pleased to say after 8 months it has got rid of it ! Happy Gardening
Hi Everyone. Just off to Chateau Pommereau near Saint Brieuc in Brittany for Fete de Jardin. Last year 12,000 visitors and I had run out of everything by 3pm Saturday! This year I have made just over 1,000 cakes/scones etc. Hope it's enough!!! Worn out before I start!! -Anyway if you're still following this Thread Mother Goose -eat your heart out Those flower seeds and Broccoli that I sowed 13th April, sprouted on 17th - sown on Flower Dayand so so pleased!! Note 19-22nd Weather did forecast some thundery spells plus beautiful weather. This w/e sees 2 more flower days on 21/22nd - Plant out begonia semperflorens. pot marigolds and geraniums sown 20/21 January. Plant out Cauliflower and Broccoli sown 16/17th February. No Gardening 20th April as Moon Perigee and No gardening 23rd between 8.15am and 5.25pm as Noeud ascending. Will catch up Tuesday with full report on Fair -Grand National a great race -Thought the girls did well! Got up 6am to set up greenhouse with watering facilities for w/e and also popped in some wild geraniums that had rooted in the Market Carpark that I found yesterday morning -Pretty little things -Oh -Duckling died apparently within 30mins of me leaving it with neighbour. Feel awful -Perhaps I should have kept it after all. But I really did not have enough knowledge despite the Internet. Happy Gardening!
