B & Q Eastbourne -Apparently they have sales Frid/Sat -50% off a whole batch of plants in all branches -BUT they are tucked away on some back staging. I picked all mine up for 50p each apart from the goosegogs which were well grown plants with leaves out already and beautifully packaged £3 each.
Let me know how you get on -going that way en route Devon/Cornwall end May to see Eden Project although I have been told that it is really expensive and highly over rated -Any thoughts on this one?? -Just checked out strange hump under fleece on raised bed -PEAS!!!! They're taking over! -Really chuffed as have failed miserably every year sowing Jan/Feb. Still keeping them fleeced up for safety. Garlic sprouting in strings in kitchen -Must plant these always a success -Much better than buying seed stock.
Went to the Eden Project in about 2003 was really good really liked the biodomes you do get really hot in one of them I expect there is a lot more there now on the outside and has grown a bit just get there early to get a good full day in
Great news Gardengirl Well Done! -Yes I got the Red Gooseberries because we like them raw. Only lettuce plants at Market in France at the moment and Rhubarb £5 on the exchange rate plus 1 raspberry -NOTE ONE - £4.23!!! and that was just a cane! Apart from Garden Fairs where I do swaps with my cakes, I still buy many things in Jersey or UK. However Potting Compost and all things 'soil' are cheaper here. Obeliskxx -Terreau at Lidl 1.29Euros this morning. Ok only 20litre sacks but quality was good last year. I use it on Flower beds as as you know my Potager is Bio.
HI BF - we wait for France Agricole to do their occasional offers of 70l of compost at half price and then go and buy a boot load of at least 10 bags a time. I don't get to the UK more than once a year and haven't been since 2015.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Obelixx -Is France Agricole -'Point Vert' or ''Maison' -or just in the Vendee? Leclerc is pretty good too and Super-U brilliant for Organic Terreau which I used in this new garden to make my raised beds last year as no compost ready and I was not going to move my old compost heap - Not for want of trying O/H drew the line!!! I sneaked in a dozen dustbin bags full though!!! Hate moving -always say never again. Raining again today. Making marmelade for market tomorrow and Stilton and Chive Nibbles. Had to go to UK last week to buy Cornish Yarg for Crazy Nettle Fair 8th April, - My nettles are beginning to come up in the garden so should be able to knock up some Goat Cheese and Nettle Scones as well. Giving Cooking Demo as well there -Any brainwaves with nettles welcome!!! Look out for Lunar Weather Report for April tomorrow.
Oops BF. It's France Rurale. They sell preserving jars, beer and wine making stuff, brid and animal feeds, garden equipment and clothing, fencing, composts, pots, plants and seeds. Funny mix of stuff but they do have some bargain offers for regular clients.
I only use nettles for wild corners for butterflies or cut down to make nettle tea for plants but a chap who used to clean moss off our roof in Belgium would always stop by and ask for fresh nettle shoots in spring to make his post winter liver cleansing soup.
