Yes eye better now thanks. However it means I can see MORE weeds!! Sowed 50 Broad Beans in pockets of 3 in raised bed yesterday. Trying the French method where you sow 3 beans in each hole and keep them all as they grow as mini bushes and support each other. Beautiful weather, Dawn Chorus starting already. Cats full of joy catching voles!

Had super crop last year when I bought in Bio crops and noted that they were in clumps of 3, so I did not split them out. If you look at crops of Briad Beans in fields they are grouped together like this. -Always like to try something new.

    Hi Everyone

Did you see the 'Super Moon' last night? Don't think it was anywhere as good as January but very bright with a fine display from Venus, Jupiter and Saturn at the moment. Clear skies have meant slight frost here, but still eating salads from Raised Beds and ground just about dry enough to starting raking beds for new goodies. Potatoes chitting well, and I have receuved some jerusalem artichoke tubers to plant, although it is still a little early for them. Cats on high alert for voles that have set up home in roadside bank -great anticipation and twirling of tails and whiskers -Bit more sunbathing than hunting though I think, having found Pushkin and Boot the bengal snoozing in the primroses.
here is Lunar Calender 21-28th February
21/22/23rd Feb -Moon descending in Virgo so Root Days. In all regions plant shallots, and garlic initially under cover. Prick out turnips and carrots sown 16-19th January. Also sow some celery under cover (I know this isn't a root veg but BioD says treat as root initially to ensure good root system starts to create good bunching of stems as it develops.
24/25th Feb - Moon descending in Libra the Air Sign so Flower Days. If it is not too cold with you, rake back straw or bracken from artichoke roots and remove weak or browned leaves, either cover with fresh compost or lift them and replant in new area. Prick out begonias sown 6-10th Feb. Project: BioD Tip>Plant Wisteria up a trellis on edge of Potager as roots supply useful nitrogen to nearby veg.
26/27th Feb - Moon descending in Scorpio so Leaf Days. Trim Box and evergreen hedges and topiary. Prick out lettuce and spring cabbage sown 8-11th Feb. If you haven't already start to prepare an Asparagus Bed. Sow under cover your Summer Cabbages (all types)
28th Feb - Moon descending in Sagitarius. Fruit Day. If greenhouse is warm enough sow some aubergines. Spray Fruit Bushes with Bordeaux Mixture on the buds.

BioD Meeting tonight -Will give more info on preperations over the w/e.

    Happy Gardening!

No moon last night.  Thick cloud and then a heavy mist this morning but then it turned out sunny and warm.   Our garlic is doing very well.  Might get some onion sets if I see any good ones but I have seeds for pink ones from Niort which I could sow.   Love the pink Roscoff onions so these are worth a try.   Red onion sets were a mess last year.

OH "weeded" our globe artichokes when clearing up last autumn.  One survivor left!

Too busy painting at the mo to do gardening but I'll get there.
