I have happy memories of Crianlarich & Calendar....was where we honeymooned. I think the TV series 'Dr Finlay's Casebook' was located at Calendar at the time.
As long as the memories are good hollie - that's what matters There was still a lot of snow on most of the hills well into May and June this year due to the long winter. Nevis is never without snow somewhere and they reckon the top is only clear of cloud for about 60 days of the year. I hope to do it again via the arete which includes another Munro. It's a spectacular walk - a famous one for walkers - and a very long day, so I'll need good weather
It can be quite disappointing when you walk in cloud and clag, but when it suddenly clears - it takes your breath away. No matter how often it happens - it's always a thrill
Think you might be right about Callander David. Not that I'm old enough to remember Dr Finlay....
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
BL - he can stuff his face all day on pine tree cones - I have a pine about ten feet from that spot! Loads of Scots pines round here , so they never go hungry
He was very funny to watch
There was a woodpecker on there this morning just as I left for work. I'll need to put a feeder in the open to attract him in again, so GI Joe will get a share of that too

Re spelling David - it's ok, it's not a hanging offence...yet
It can be funny hearing people trying to pronounce some of our Scottish place names though, even though it's understandable!
One of the most common is Strathaven - pronounced Strayven, and not as it's spelled. Milngavie is another - pronounced 'Millguy' - as in Fawkes

I had to laugh. Yesterday, GI Joe the squirrel launched an assault on the birdcage...
'what's this? I smell grub...'
'but - how do I get in...'
'I'll try this first...'
'nope, maybe this way....'
'hmmm...maybe there's a door somewhere underneath...'
'oh b&&**r....'

He's so cute and I'm glad he doesn't look thin.
