That's beautiful, Lesley. French trees are behind English ones with colour, but round here it's mostly oak and pine and oak is later than others. Sweet chestnuts are turning though.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Love the Autumn photos. Here's a photo to make you laugh - not Autumn unfortunately. This is in the main street of my nearest town. The pruning of the Ash tree to avoid power lines is rather technical, I think!
Those are lovely pix Lesley. It's been great to have some calm weather to enjoy the changing colours. So often they get blown off the trees before that happens.
That sheep was funny - his mate was just along to the right and looking quite bemused. He was thoroughly enjoying his little photo opportunity. It was very quiet at the time, only a few people out - I really enjoy being on a hill with only the sheep for company. Is that a bit weird?
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
This afternoon I watched a TV show called "The Great British Countryside" with Hugh Crane and Julia Bradbury (2012) and the county they looked at was Yorkshire. I really enjoyed it, and thought about some of you, especially those of you who do so much walking.
Pat, do you mind if I ask ? have you always lived in Oz ( is that un PC?) or are you British ex pat? just curious. Feel free to ignore the question if you think it intrusive.

Beautiful shots
. Perhaps the sheep was looking round to see where the dog you were whistling was Fairy

A few autumn pics I took on the dog walk this morning.

Thank you Lizzie, Pat and Fairy. I don't think the leaves are going to last very long if the wet and windy forecast is to be believed.
Pat the tree looks as though it's recoiling from a shock
.
Fairy no, not at all weird. It's a wonderful way to enjoy peace and quiet and recharge the batteries
