Yes, David, the Crinan Canal surprised me - I was expecting a semi-industrial canal in straight lines and with lots of motor boats. Instead we had a wonderful day working the locks and waving to other yachts in beautiful surroundings. Even the weather was un-Scottish, as you can see. And it saved us the 80-mile trip around Kintyre.
Charlie November, are the canoeing ones in the Gorges d'Ardeche? I took my grown up children canoeing there a few years ago, before they all got married and started producing grandchildren.
