................Bit of a chill ....prob when slug hunting late couple of nights ago in the rain.
Hey! Passed a fav nursery on way back this morn and resisted the urge to stop. How's that for will power?
Probably the effect of the chill
I've just spent the morning crawling on my hands and knees grubbing out a whole trug full of dandelions and hawkweed from the front lawn. I went out there to do something else, but the soil's nice and soft so I thought I might just as well get on with it while it's not raining. After that I sprinkled some grass seed over the whole lawn, and a bit more in the bare patches. We'll soon have a bowling green
Now for a mug of soup then back outside again - this time in the back garden
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
A long way to go before it's 'high quality' Verdun - the work on the front lawn is repairing the damage done by three builder's skips parked on it for 9 months when we first moved in!!!
Most people would probably have had it stripped and turfed or at least re-seeded, but I have a pension to look after now and anyway, I like a challenge! If I tell people on here that they don't need to spend a fortune on a new lawn, then I'd better practise what I preach.
And the bees like the clover and new turf wouldn't have that
Well, after the mug of soup and a sandwich I went out and sowed a row of Baby Gems and a row of Oriental Red Mustard - stood back to admire my handiwork and the rain started again - only soft summer rain so really it's just what's needed to water the grass seed in, but it means I'm back indoors noodling with you lot again.

Well what a horrible day. Wet, windy and cold, had to wear head torch in the greenhouse to see the seeds I was sowing. Must have crushed a dozen snails that were sheltering in there.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team

Hi all, back from SM and B&Q only bought a tray of Marigolds for companion planting for toms. Marigold omelette for tea
Still raining
Verdun I only sowed my carrots yesterday. Still can't eat gooseberries too many memories of school lunches & childish songs
Sweetpea, getting eaten out of house & home, let's hope they don't eat your garden
