Rain has passed through here for now, but think more is on its way. I want to get out there and uproot my forgetmenots at some stage today - plus some more potting on in the GH to do. Plenty of Chelsea still to watch and mags to read in the rainy bits. So glad the heroes garden got the peoples award - its funny how that so often goes to a garden that didn't get a gold.
and Happy Birthday to Pdoc Saw this and thought of you .....
KEF, I fell in love with Agapanthus last year whilst on holiday in Cornwall, they were growing wild and took a photo into my GC to ask what they were, I got some bulbs (tubers/corms?????) from GW but they don't seem to be doing much......I need Agapanthus flowers
Quite bright and chirpy here at the moment but not forecast to last, mall the plants that are hardening off seem to be doing well, I even left the morning glory out last night and I think it's still grown!!
Dove - I don't know if it's an omen, but last night about half eight, I went to make a cup of tea. When I was at the sink, I saw a mallard duck on the roof of a garage across the road. I did a double take, thought it was a plastic one, then saw it turn it's head and there was Mrs Mallard just along from him - nicely disguised by the surrounding wall! Perhaps I need to wave my wand here too...
And is it Ariel - the Little Mermaid - you have MrsG?....
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Good news is chard, lettuce, winter sprouting broccoli and spinach germinating in GH. I don't plant direct prefer to grow and plant out.
OL I like Agapanthus but have enough stuff in pots and would need to lift in Autumn they won't overwinter here in garden, or I don't think they will. Sounds like you are doing great with your veggies.
I think I may have damaged mine KEF by planting them in Autumn, I'm not sure, the winter wasn't too cold, I think we only had a couple of mild frosts. I got them before I was on here so didn't get any advice It may also be because it's the first year if having them, there are leaves but very small.
I noticed yesterday that my Buerre de Rocquencourt beans were showing through the soil - sowed direct on the 11th warm soil and wet weather is just what they needed
We've got agapanthus in a terracotta pot on the terrace - I planted 3 potted clumps that were already flowering into the same pot together and this is their third summer - they die down in the winter and I move the pot into the most sheltered corner and they overwinter fine. Lots of new leaves - I'm hoping for a good show this year.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Morning all. Happy birthday Punkdoc. It is my son's 33rd birthday today which can't be right as I'm only 27. He has learning difficulties so is rather younger than his years. I stayed up till silly o'clock waiting for him to go to bed so I could wrap his extra present and put up the happy birthday banner.
Just started raining here but will be popping out to take the flowers off the hellebores. Thanks for that Verdun. I am learning so much here. The only problem is remembering it all

Dove, I'm off to the theatre today too! Ma, sis and I are off to the matinee of Miss Saigon. Christmas pressies to us from Ma.
Lily, it's chucking it down here too
Ironic that I've been waiting for rain but today is inconvenient for me
Have a fab birthday Doc

What are these balls of moss? Liked the idea last year too, but no amount of googling has helped.
