    Tea and biscuits anyone?.

As I said, I'm happy for a majority verdict. I think the title is what antagonises someone, but I agree, WUMS will post whenever and wherever they like.

chicky - I'd be worried that they'd dry out if you leave them out of soil for too long. Could you stick them all in a pot with a bit of compost or soil round them? It wouldn't have to be too perfect - they'd be fine till the weekend then.image

I'm off now too. Watching D.I.Banks and can't concentrate on both things image

  • Chicky, what sort of irises?

Ones with corms, rhizomes or the fibrous rooted ones?

If it's corms or fibrous rooted ones I'd get them in the ground as quick as possible at this time of year - if its rhizomes (bearded iris) then wrap in damp newspaper and put somewhere cool but frost-free until the weekend.

Chicky, I think they will be fine. Are they just the rhizomes or have they got leaves? The leaves can feed off the rhizomes until you get them planted. They sell them in sawdust in plastic bags here. Or are they bulb irises?

imageSnap, but Dove's answer is better. Why does everything happen back to front? That smiley was after the answer and my photos are always back to front nowadays.
