Clari, that isn't fair. When I was working and during one of my employments like Pd I lived for holidays. Now I don't even know when Easter falls. image  Soz just rubbing it in. Early retirement is ace, but as I told Pinkie the wages are rubbish image

Pd you romantic, that is lovely. However if you change your mind and stay home I can lend you a gondola. image  Hope stuff is continuing to dry out.

Stacey do we expect more varieties adding to your collection? How did you become a chilli monster?

Panda hope you are smiling, just love a smiley Panda.

    Lizzie have a lovely evening.

Been to SM with Mum and once again amazed how much a tiny 7stone lady can buy & eat. No worries here about having to check she is eating.

Well I've only 40 years to go til I retire if my body holds out. Trouble is that if I'm retiring early it means its because I'm too broken to do anything! Oh if only I could wave my magic wand and come up with enough money to live comfortably without working full time - not that I work full time anyway considering how I am once again using an office computer to read this forum!! image

  • Hello folks - I'm back from the Suffolk coast - Aged Ps well and happy - haven't seen Ma so jolly in years - confusion seems to suit her ........ sometimes image

It's been a gorgeous day here in East Anglia, 11.5C in the garden and dry and sunny all day - it's just beginning to cloud over now.  Hope it's been dry for you lot.  I forgot to take my camera with me - well none of you reminded me did you?  But I'd promised some pics so I used my mobile - rubbish pics but better than nothing.  And I took them all from the car as there weren't any parking spaces along the sea front - Southwold was full of the nation's Great and Good with their children and grandchildren on half-term image  You never know who's going to be behind you at the cashpoint - you can turn round and see Twiggy or one of the Dr Whos.

It really was a lovely day and so good to see lots of children enjoying the beach and the pier, even if they were paddling with their wellies on image

Clari, If I have a mega win on the lottery you can retire. You could supervise the installation of a pond in my garden. image If I won a lot I think I'd move to a bigger house & garden, and have someone to do the HW.

Dove not seen the SPAM. Pleased AP's are okay. Nice pics even if small, I love the sea, when it behaves.

Been lovely here and can boast 14C o/s with sun on thermometer, but rain due tomoz'.

Dove I was wondering where'd they'd come from! Don't they realise we don't want a grotty cheap kitchen when we have new greenhouses we could be spending out money on?!

Oh I miss the sea side, I could happily spend the day there wandering, resting, watching the water change but my partner doesn't like the seaside (think his parents must have tried to drown him when he was little or something) so when we do go he's itching to leave after ten minutes.

KEF I know exactly what type of place I'd be having if I won the lottery, trouble is I don't play! Plenty of land with sheep grazing, vast outbuildings and orangeries to hide away in, a proper kitchen garden, and a proper stone built house with large windows to let the most of the light in.

I'd also build a small cottage a good three minute walk away for visitors as I find at family events come day three you're all grumpy with each other and come day six as much as you insist we ALL STAY TOGETHER IN THIS ROOM BECAUSE ITS CHRISTMAS AND THAT'S WHAT FAMILIES DO even though all that happens in said room is fighting, *itchy comments, and everyone playing on their electronic devices, so a nice cottage where family stayed when visiting would mean at least we'd all get some respite from each other and could make excuses to disappear off!

Til then if you need a hermit to live by your pond just give me a shoutimage

Clari, are bosses allowed to stop your holiday? I thought everyone was entitled to a certain amount a year.

Have you been to Venice before, puncdoc? We went in September, it's wonderful, we walked miles exploring and there's so much music and art.

Near the Chilli Festival at West Dean gardens is the Weald and Downland Open Air Museum where they filmed the Monastery Farm series. Worth a visit too and the countryside North of Chichester is glorious.

When Dove mentions Southwold I get a warm and fuzzy feeling! My grandparents used to live there and it brings back happy memories of childhood holidays.

Photos of a restaurant near where we stayed and view of the Rialto Bridge from the waterbus on the Grand Canal. Just to give puncdoc a taste.
