Hi everyone, glad to see everyone is ok. Things have been a little fraught here, lots of tree branches in the stream, causing dams, but difficult to remove without falling in. Greenhouse flooded with pots on the floor floating around, and, finally roof of house started leaking.

Apart from the roof everything is now sorted. It has been a very stressful few days, although I realise we have been far luckier than many, and that I should not moan.

Going to have a wander round the bits of the garden that are not flooded and hopefully find a few green shoots to cheer me up.

How can you lie there and think of England

Hope things improve for you PD, and fingers crossed the worst of the weather has passed.

Been out to inspect the daff friends dog was chewing yesterday - bud ok, just nibbled on the leaves.

Had a search for other daffs planted last year, bit unfair of me really to expect the poor things to push through a layer of slate! So given them the help they needed and removed slate, found a few shoots, hope its not too late. But brrrrrr its cold out there today so that's my lot in the garden, back in for coffee n cake.

    Have a good day all.
  • Oh Punkdoc ((hugs)) to you and yours!  If you feel like moaning about your roof go ahead, you're allowed to get it off your chest image image

I've been out and pruned roses and am clearing up the Shady Bank, cutting back the herbaceous perennials etc.  I've found lots of green shoots, iris reticulata and sibirica, prunella, Verbena Bon. clemats and honeysuckle, and the delphiniums are peeking up and someone's had a nibble!  A big dollop of sharp sand has been put around them and I shall go out with the torch this evening!!! image

I'm also trying to decide whether to move one of the gooseberries - the autumn raspberries are creeping quite close to it!  It's do it now time, or wait until next year.  I would do it now but not sure where to put it image  The veg/fruit patch is getting a bit cramped now that OH is growing a few things himself image

Does anyone want any baby cyclamen hederifolium alba?  I've got hundreds of babies coming up all over the place.

And can anyone remember what I planted in one of the big terracotta bowls - some bulbs with pink shoots are coming up - they don't look quite like hyacinths but they might be - I shall have to wait and see.

Oh, and the Fritillaria Imperialis are up and raring to go - they grew but didn't flower last year, so remembering that the ones in a garden I inherited years ago were planted very shallow I replanted these with their noses just below the soil surface - let's see if that makes any difference.

Sorry to hear Pd. Thought you must be having more problems with all rain Friday night and yesterday.

Dove you got into your garden image I can't remember what you've planted in your bowls, I'll get my crystal ball out and have a peek into future, let you know later.

Mrs Garden I am reporting you for cruelty to bulbsimage

Tracey lovely picture makes us feel good weather will eventually come.

Think our walk is on hold, it's raining. Well at least we had some sun, cheery to see.

Punkdoc, sorry to hear about your roof, i guess its more buckets you need and not drysuits.image

I have been clearing encroaching ivy from the old hellebore bed beneath the magnolia. I have found a few more seedling hellebores and potted them up, also Euphorbia griffithi dixter is shooting where I don't want it, so I have a couple of those now potted. Other than that I am muck spreading. Currently waiting for a sausage sandwich and a mug of coffee, then more muck spreading.

    Have a good day.image

    Hey all image

What a lovely day it is here! The sun is shining and the wind is pretty non existent image

Guess where I am off to this afternoon? That's right, my garden image Want to see how the new plants are settling in.

Dove, I would be happy to rehome some of your babies if you like? Send me a PM and we can work something out!

Mrs G, tsk tsk! Take it they were solid slates? I have bulbs pushing through chips of slate image

Panda, one of the hellebores has your name on it. Also I can sort you out some scatter seeds of annuals for your patch.image

  • I'll save some for you Panda and will PM you later - gardener's pitstop to refuel with chicken and leek soup at the moment image

Is there really someone new from Norwich on the Positive thoughts thread - not sure that their post is going to be helpful image
