It's reached the dizzy heights of 12 here  Dove - I almost took my hat, gloves, liberty bodice and overcoat off...image

I've been putting some little bits and pieces round the base of the fence at the back where I park the car. There's some large stones forming a raised edge so I've put lots of little chunks of geranium and crocosmia in and I've got some annuals so I'll sow them in the spaces too. Been shifting things around and wondering how I'll get the huge buddleia out for later in the year. image

I bought some new canes yesterday - they're green plastic coated so should last longer. I quite like them  image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Glorious here, still have shorts & vest on ( not thermal).

Moved a Callistemon splendis, looked dead after winter 2 yrs ago came back with vigour. Likes free draining & neutral to acid, so been in my Eric image bed.  Nearly "dead" the B has nearly killed OH digging it out, grafter on job and a right root ball, thought apple tree would fall down. I dug hole to plant in and that was hard enough, it was only moving 5'. Me thinks tougher than they say apparantly only HH.   Bed was well wet & even though eric dug in over years roots in clay.  Lot of root lost so it's a case of if it lives it lives.

Time to go cook. No need for fire dept' tonight Archie, only Madras image

Romantica doccos welcome homos  imagehope you've had brill time, did worry about you and falling out of a gondola.

Hi to all, but do need to soak up last rays and then cook image

Been in the garden most of the day (except for preparing a meal for about 50 people tomorrow!) - Spanish Chicken with Chorizo.

Pricked out the rest of the Sweet Aperitif Tomatoes, Set the growbag onto the Hozelock capillary watering tray and planted out 3 'Cucino' Cucumbers, made sure everything is sufficiently watered, a lot of plants outside hardening off (now back in GH for the night) sorted some more decorative bark around the fruit bushes as a weed suppressant & mulch, and weeded the beans (chickweed springing up all over the place!).

    Here are a few pics:

The beans (above) are 'The Sutton' Broad Beans, + 'Moonlight' Runner Beans. Took a chance on possibility of frosts and hardened them off earlier than usual and planted them out last weekend. Though advised there might be a frost last night there wasn't (this part of Bristol seems to escape more than other parts) and everything seems to be doing very well.image

Lupins (above) are in their second season (sowed seed last year) and flower spikes are looking good).

New Herb Bed, created last year and now beginning to get established. Flat Parsley went to seed a couple of weeks ago so removed & space ready for new additions.

Finally our Blackbird has been singing to us all afternoon from the Holly Tree at the bottom of our garden.

Hi KEF, I love cooking as well as the garden. The meal for 50 is for our church; every first Sunday in the month we have a 'Bring and Share' lunch - everyone invited. Usually a few don't stay but about 60% do and I am one of 8 or so that Cook a major dish to be shared by all, others bring something but everything always seems to work out exactly right: no-one yet has ever gone hungry! I always prepare Gluten Free food as we have a few who are Coeliacs, including my daughter & 2 grand-daughters.

I invested In a Robinson Greenhouse last October 12 months and have never regretted the decision to buy it (about ??2,700). I had previously had cheap GH's and they were nowhere near as good as the Robinson. I'm approaching 70 now but age doesn't seem so noticeable when you're doing what you enjoy doing. John H
