Back from team day - all opportunity of visiting the gardens were rained off.  More trees down on the roads round here - ground is too soggy to hold them up anymore.

still - at least we will have a summer free from hosepipe bans image

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

  • Lets hope so chicky. Sorry you couldn't visit the gardens.

More rainforecast for the rest of the week and weekend  image

At least it didn't rain too much today, pouring now though. I sloshed through the mud and bashed in 7 fence posts that had gone wobbly or were only held up by electric ribbon and replaced insulators only to find b****y fence still isn't working. I replaced half or it last autumn, will have to replace the other half tomorrow. Bother, and I'm going out to lunch tomorrow.

I grew some Lady Christl potatoes in 2012 as they are first earlies and I was growing Charlotte which is slightly later. But, having read lots of good reviews I wasn't very pleased with them, Charlotte cropped better and I could hardly taste the difference.

Grew a French early this year, Amandine, but forgot I'd planted them so didn't harvest early enough so Charlotte was still better! That is the trouble with being over 27!

Sorry Archie & Chicky we crossed.

Archie you are what my Dad called a Grafter, hard worker not a garden spade. image

Chicky it's getting so bad isn't it ? Rain and more B rain, and more forecast. I'm just not looking at my lavenders and similar any more. Just so depressing, but at least they aren't trees that are falling.

Thanks Lizzie for spud info. Bet you are tired, amazing what 27 year olds can do when needs must.

Dove I let PD have the beer, I only like beer with a head on. p.s. HP on bacon buttie not ketchup, but I really enjoyed it image

Evening all you lovely people image

Had a busy day at work and a nice dinner of griddled chicken with a  tikka-ish marinade, veg and brown rice. Sadly, my happy state was spoilt by opening the laptop and finding the 'alternative' plan the architect has sent me which is so utterly not what I want that I might be forced to stab him when he comes on Friday. Aaaagh  image

Wondering if the garden will ever dry out - to be frosty tonight, and snow forecast in the next day or two. We've been very lucky round here so far this winter  - hope we don't get caught out!

Early to bed for you tonight archie image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
