  • I can relate to that, actually, think we all can! Hence why I now own about 5 or 6 tape measures at the last count. Every time I think of buying something (nearly all the time) I only have to reach onto the coffee table image I'm so jealous of you having frogs actually take residence in your garden, around Brighton the wildlife is so scarce! Althoughnthe last few years I've been doing this garden up and my nans down the road, I've seen so many bees and butterflies, and I even found a hedgehog eating some slugs by my hostas last year. I bet the fish are going to have a whale of a time in that huge pond and with all the pants they'll be plenty to explore, they're very lucky!

  • Never heard of Rushfields Ryan whereabouts is that.

Just realized where Border Hill Gardens are, we went to the restaurant there a few years ago.

  • It's in Poynings Star, just over the Dyke, small but well worth a visit if you get a minute.

And it's great, although the cafe is ridiculously expensive! Luckily I get a free lunch thereimage

Hello again folks! Well, I went to the GP to discuss my BP as the nurse wasn't very happy with it last time she measured it - only my lovely GP was using a different consulting room 'cos there's an IT problem in hers, and she couldn't make the BP machine work properly - it kept saying there was an error - so we had a chat and agreed that I need to lose some weight again ; we agreed that walking every day is a good thing and so is working hard in the garden. We also agreed that my sleeping better and not feeling so tired since retiring and consequently being more in control of my appetite sounds hopeful  She thought the 5:2 regime might be helpful but it is not a simple cure-all - agreed.

The upshot of the visit is that I will get my BP checked again in 2 months, when hopefully these changes in my lifestyle have had a chance to have some impact  image

When we got home the sun was shining so OH and I went for a stomp across the marshes (it's his day off) so know the backs of my legs really ache and I need a sit down image

We're planning a pond - just not quite sure where yet image

  • Oh, will try to remember next time we go for a trip to Brighton.

We went to the resturant --Jeremys one evening with friends. On their advice, thought it was very expensive for what it was, also not alot on the menu that night to our taste. Actually went to the cafe last August with different friends and enjoyed that more.

  • Aw I'm sorry to hear that Dove! My auntie has suffered from high blood pressure from around my age and she tried diets and all sorts, nothing worked, but now the docs have said that she may just have naturally high bp, with no explanation. Atleast it's not having too much of an adverse impact on your life, well I hope anyway image
  • You should do star, really cheap aswell, last year got 5 lavender for ??5! Jeremy's is definitely lacking in choice and always seems a bit dark and dingy whenever I go in there, maybe it's just me. Although I love the cafe, it does seem to, in my experience, attract the people who think they are and try to act posh, I was actually sworn at in the in about October for not knowing where some bodies reserved table was, and I was only waiting for my toastie!
  • Sorry to hear that Dove, but with your daily walks and diet you should be fine next time you see her. Also hopefully the weather will brighten up and you can get out in your garden. In the meantime have a rest on the sofa this afternoon and put your feet up. Get OH to get you a cuppa image

  • Lol Ryan, some people are so rude.  Yes I agree with you, some of the people there were rather stuck up image Theres nowt so queer as folk image

  • Good afternoon all,

The honeysuckle is called lonicera fragrantissima, SGL. It doesn't climb like the usual honeysuckles. It just makes a big shrub about 8 feet tall. I have to keep clipping it back and it's a bit boring when not in flower but worth it for the perfume. I've got some sprigs in the sitting room.

I love my pond. It was done on the cheap. the biggest expense was the man and a digger for the day. We lined it with old carpet from the council tip. The men working there helped us load trailer after trailer load of old smelly carpets. Perhaps they wouldn't be allowed to do it now. This was about ten years ago. The liner was a massive roll of plastic that farmers use to wrap those big hay bails in. I wasn't sure the liner would last so long but even though the water level goes down in the summer it seems fine.
