KEF - I think teachers took courses in how to deliver stinging witticisms / back handed compliments / put downs to make you look like a right idiot in front of the whole class.

Some of the comments made to me still smart all this time later.

It took me a long time to realise that many teachers at my schools probably never ever left school. They went to school - went to college - came back to school & had no real experience outside those rarified environments. For some, their main pleasure in life seemed to be finding the meanest way to bring little people down to an even smaller size.

That said we also had some excellent and inspirational teachers - but they were all men who had probably seen a little of 'real' life and been in the forces etc.

Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down

Congratulations Verdun! Funny how your eyes water Star Lily: in my family anything under 10lb is a runt! image

KEF funny you mention your little sister not having many baby photos: my brother "appears" in the photos at the age of 18 months! There isn't a single picture of him prior (and funnily very few pictures of me after he hit 18 months). The reason was that my grandma had exhausted herself taking photos of me (there's two albums covering the ages 0 - 3 weeks) that no obe bothered to take pictures of him. Been there done that mentality. He too was convinced he was adopted!

I guess after 18 months they decided him the prettier one and that's when I was bubbled.

Trying to find motivation to make something appealing for supper. DIY is proving a bit disastrous at the moment (tiles broken, leaks in the new plumbing, and the plaster has "fallen off" on one wall in the hallway) so I need to cheer his Lordship up with something as he's back off to work tomorrow and we're still without an indoor loo (shower at least works again: thank goodness!)
