Evening all, if you're still awake. i slept heavily, as usual, and Hubby did the early morning walkies for HRH, who wouldn't break a habit for anything.
Now that we're both awake, she's snoring on her bed.
Don't know what we've got planned today, but had a phone call from a friends daughter last night to advise that our friend is in the local hospital, on oxygen. He is 79 and has emphysema and caught a bug/wog when down the coast over Christmas and was having trouble breathing yesterday morning so took himself off to Cas and they kept him in. I asked daughter about his little dog, Mindy, and she said when she asked him where the dog was, he answered that she was tied to a post outside the hosp with a bowl of water. I ask you!!! Anyway, she arranged for one his mates to come and get her. Der!
anyway, I expect Hubby will go and see him today and find out if he can do anything to help. His daughter is a local ambulance officer, so she is on his case. I laughed when she told me that she walked into Cas and said "have you got my father here" and of course got told yes, and we're keeping him for a couple of days. - small towns, eh.
Hubby has gone into town to catch up with Rolf. He's going to give him a good talking to for not asking us for help to get into hospital. He keeps telling him to stop being such a determined independent old German (Even though he has been here for more than 50 years).
I'm attaching a photo of Hubby at the grass fire from the other day - they call this "blacking out" - making sure there are no bits of roots etc smouldering below vision.
Hope your friend is OK - and his dog - and that all fires are safely out.
Strange day today. I normally surface in time to listen to the concert from Vienna while I potter round the kitchen and had planned to go on a long walk with OH, who retired yesterday, and the two dogs. However we received a text from Possum who spent NY Eve there with friends to ask one of us to go to Thuin to fetch her home as the planned lift was leaving too early for her.
3 hour round trip so a good job we did not over indulge last night and a lovely sunny drive once the mist lifted.
OH ate all his Xmas pud in two goes. Possum and I find it too rich and heavy so we had sticky toffee pudding on Xmas day. However, I like the sound of Xmas pud ice cream so might buy him a bigger one next year and nick the leftovers. I get him an organic one from the English shop but I make our Xmas cake. It is still maturing and will make great snacks to have with coffee now that I have a full time under gardener.
Happy new year everyone and happy gardening.

I think the writer of that Sherlock was on something stronger than sloe gin. Very hard to follow. Time for bed for me. Night folks.

I do like Sloe Gin.... don't fancy one now though, have been laid up in bed most of the day with a migraine
Missed the NYD flower count too

Morning Pat
Hope your friend is ok
Sounds like he did a sensible thing for himself, if not his dog!
I haven't forgotten, Hazel. It's much easier to type, as well.
Hope your friend is OK Pat - and his little dog is none the worse for her adventure.
