The best detox I know is just to cut out carbs and drink lots of water - I feel great when I do that and lose weight too. The problem is that OH hasn't got any weight to lose so I have to feed him carbs .... it's just not fair
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
My plans for walking tomorrow have been curbed as daughter is working and there's no public transport. I'll have to drop her off and maybe just get up to Arrochar for a quick shuftie up something. Rest and be Thankful's re opened with traffic lights in operation, so perhaps go there.
I never cut out anything completely DD. Moderation for me always....well most of the time. Too much sugar is the worst issue for the majority of people. I don't drink, I rarely have processed food, I eat lots of veg and I get exercise outside. Balance is the key to most things in life I think - but it can be hard to achieve.
Hope everyone has a good night - whatever they're doing - and a happy and healthy New Year when it comes
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Congrats on the painting, Pauline! Hope it comes off you ok...
Mmmm, fish pie! Nowt special for tea here, but roast pork for lunch tomorrow, with roasties, crackling and apple sauce - OH's favourite - followed by homemade lemon icecream. He deserves spoiling since he spent much of today helping with the after-flood cleanup, barrowing silt deposited on the cricket field. The volunteers, who included a number of young Asian lads from Bradford, just keen to help, were given lunch provided by the town council.
Meanwhile I did the shopping, since which I've been keeping warm and trying not to cough.
No New Year celebrations in this house - though we'll no doubt be woken by other people's fireworks... Hope you all enjoy yourselves, and that 2016 is a good year for you all.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Sorry to hear of your sad news T'bird. Sending love to you and your family xxx
January is a difficult month for a lot of people.
I don't do New Year either. I find it meaningless - not a party person in any way shape or form.
Re heating last night's roast and doing new veg for dinner. Sleety and cold and wet here so the heating might be on a bit more than it's been recently.
The telly is rubbish isn't it Panda? I just watch things I've recorded mainly. Got Johnnie Walker's radio interview with James Taylor on just now. Even that's a repeat! It was good though

Evening all, Just popped on to wish everyone a happy New Year. Hubby and I will be spending a night in with a bottle of fizz watching TV. We will probably watch the Fireworks later on (if I can stay awake long enough). After years spent on the committee of a big band and running a soul band I really appreciate a quiet New Year's eve rather than traipsing round the country trying to keep loads of students sober enough to play music.
It seems I forgot to push the submit button this morning as I lay curled up in bed with his lordship (he'd had a very unsettled night and so was snoring away at 09:30).
We have been getting a little involved in our DIY. What started as a lets replace the awful floor in the bathroom is now a
- lets remove the floor (sink and bathroom in the garden, bath in the hallway)
- and re-plumb everything (what a tangle it was under there! Just a shame no one will see the piece of art it is now)
- let's put a heated towel rail in (more plumbing and a full drain and flush of the heating system... well while you're there you may as well)
- oh! We can remove that awful gloss off the ceiling too...
Thank goodness we have our trusty outside loo.
This evening will be spent consuming gammon and baby potatoes, drinking cider, and falling asleep long before midnight!
Liri - many of those 'much maligned' lads are also helping with the clear up north of the border. Funny how it isn't headline news though eh? Sounds like hubby deserves his special meal

Steak about to be cooked, nice Bordeaux decanted, then try to find something to watch on TV. What a rock and roll existence I lead.
Much happiness to all.
