I am allowed to take mine down on the 6th as it's my bday tomorrow (5th) and I always got upset when mum took the decs down on my bday... Saying that I have almost all mine down now. Just the swag down te stairs and the outside tree and my daughters snow globes to put away....... Just been out in the garden and walking on the grass it's like quicksand!!!! Fidget I but quite a few plants and seeds off ebay so far I would have to say they have been excellent quality.....
Stacey, OH and I were just saying the other day there's not enough quicksand on the telly nowadays - when I was a child Champion the Wonderhorse was always rescuing someone from a quicksand; Skippy the kangaroo likewise - that's what you call real adventure - bring back the quicksand on tv!!! We ought to start a petition

Whether the 5th or 6th , it's always sad to see the tree etc come down. However just think how quickly you would go bonkers if it lasted all year round! If there is confusion as to which is the correct date, then it's up to you to decide which is best for you.
Apparently Ma left ours up until summer and all the needles fell off one year 'cos baby Bro cried when she started to take it down (I always said she spoiled him )

My OH and I have this discussion nearly every year about 12th night. As a child i'm sure they came down on the 6th, but my OH says must be down before, so we usually take them down on the fifth. I thought I was superstitious, but a friend of mine missed taking down a decoration one year (it was a dec on a shelf) so she said so as not to bring bad luck you have to leave there all year, and she did!
I will miss the smilies with hats, perhaps they can have bobble hats and sun hats in the summer
Hi, folks.....I know I'm not a regular contributor to the thread, but I thought I would share a recent experience with you that may be of some benefit.
I have my electric & gas supply from npower. In spite of much press coverage of the subject, I was rather taken aback by the price hike on Dec 30th.....my monthly direct debit had been increased from £92 to £142pm... a cool 55%.
I rang them after the holiday to express my concern....the upshot being (after a long conversation) that I was placed on a tariff costing £130pm, at the same time electing to manage my own account online (no more estimated bills). Yesterday, I noticed while looking at my online account that the monthly direct debit had been further reduced to £112pm .....further communication confirmed that the latter amount was correct relative to my fuel usage.
With a £336pa saving to me, the moral of my story is, it sometimes pays to query things you're not happy with.

Right that's two petitions. One for quicksand & one for bobble & sun hats
BFN, off to market ( sounds like start of a nursery rhyme ) and a visit to Mum, whose trimmings are coming down today!

Think my garden is a bit like quick sand, so you can have some of mine

Thanks for that David - we're with Npower, and their printed missives are about as clear as mud
I shall give them a ring next week
