    Thanks

Still can't see properly through eye so no driving - getting a bit stir crazy hereimage

Torrential rain at moment and the wind is really roaring, glad I did a storm tidy up this morning.

All roads to the next town to us are closed, the warning signs are now semi-permanent here about it. R, Severn is not supposed to peak until 5 tomorrow but is already 4.5m up. It does not affect us directly, but does mean it is hard to get about because of road closures.

    Hello folks image

Good news from JH image  remember to do as the medics tell you!

Glad to see some of you have not been blown or washed away ((hugs)) - Hope the rest are all ok.

Where's Verdun?  Maybe his electricity is down???

A friend on the north coast of Cornwall has said it's been a bit grim down there, but it's improving a bit now.  Another friend in Worcester/Gloucester area says it's flippin 'orrible there!

We've had a hailstorm - when MIL and I were lunching at the GC - the noise of the hail on the solid roof was horrendous!  Now we've got strong gusts of wind from the south, making the trees in the garden across the rise sway more than I've ever seen them!

Now MIL has gone home I've got time to noodle with you lot for a bit, so I'll confess to my GC purchase yesterday - I was seduced by a substantial and really healthy-looking Sarcococca confusa for half price = £7 image - not quite sure where it's going - probably at the far end of the back garden near the wooden seat between the big ash trees where I'm trying to establish some shrubby cover after cutting down the hacked about thujas that had provided so much cover for the hedgehogs and birds.

Somerset has been hit quite badly with flooding and an almighty high tide at 8pm tonight so I'm sure some are dreading it!

We're on Marsh Grazing Land here so low and boggy but have survived up until now!

My thoughts go out to those who will lose a lot today and of course can expect the dreaded insurance companies to fleece them next time round!...

I'm still off work looking after my daughter and very pleased as a lot of the roads out of Bristol that I would have taken to come home on have been flooded or closed according to local radio! I just hope it clears a bit by Monday when I go back!..

Glad to hear that most on here seem ok..

    Best

    Higgy

I should have added that this wet weather has 'forced' me to do some on-line shopping and I will soon be the proud owner of the following items for my native wildlife hedge...

    Alder Buckthorn - Rhamnus frangula,

    Bird Cherry - Prunus padus,

    Cotoneaster franchetii,

    Guelder Rose - Viburnum opulus

    And....

    A Tree - Rowan - Sorbus aucuparia

    And...

An Apple Tree - James Grieve Apple - Malus domestica 'James Grieve'

DARN WET WEATHER See what it makes you do!!!!...image

Yes quite an interesting project creating a native hedgerow and of course the perfect time of year to be planting many of these plants in their bare-root form, You certainly won't have to water them in!!!....image
