  • I'm back - I wish I'd left it until tomorrow - the shops will be empty then, everyone's there today image  But I did take advantage of the fact that Waitrose's superb cafeteria was virtually empty to treat myself to a bacon bap and coffee and a read of the Guardian.

Now I've just got to unpack the shopping and make some pastry etc etc etc .............

I'm back too... If I ain't got it now - you can't have it image

It was ok actually - think the timing was about right - too late for the salt-miners traffic and the "Have to get there for doors opening" brigade. Too early for those that have to take sprogs with them. Busy but not manic.

Car topped up with fuel & last of local cards delivered. Lots of little jobs to do today but have decided that I am going to stop at 3pm and enjoy a very lazy evening because  the next couple of days will be busy.

Postie has just delivered a parcel - it's a little movie camera which OH bought out of his pocket money a couple of weeks ago. He won't be back until tomorrow afternoon & doesn't know it's arrived - so I think I will wrap it up & stick it under the tree so he has something to play with on Christmas Day. A bit like when he was 8 and got an Action Man...

The animation comes from here http://yoursmiles.org/index.php , but it seems to have affected the print after it!

  • Good morning all, and Season's Greetings!  image

Probably won't get on here again until after Christmas - OH has gone to the tip and the family have gone to Eureka, the kids' science thingy in Halifax.  (It's really good - I went with them last time, but need to do shopping, stuffing-making etc today.)

So the family arrived yesterday from Ireland, complete with germs... image  I'm keeping my distance from my darling daughter, as she has a wonderful cough.  But it's lovely to have them, and the children are a delight - especially the little one, who has recently decided that Talking is the current Thing to Do, but words don't always come out right yet.  My favourite so far is "moogy-bag" (motorbike).  image  The poor cat doesn't know what's hit her... she's taken up residence under our duvet this morning!

Must get on.  Hope you all have a lovely Christmas - see you in a bit...

    xx

  • Does anyone remember where I put the silver nut dish and the silver fruit bowl last January?   They're not in the sideboard where they should be image

Oh well, if I can't find them I don't have to get the silver polish out do I? image

Dove, have you looked in the shed or wherever your OH keeps things? He may have put his nails in them. That's the sort of thing that happens in this household.image

Cleaned dining room, it was cold in there, rads were off. Turned them on and will put up decorations later. Now de-frosting the small freezer in the larder. Haven't ironed yet as OH said he would light the woodburner in the sitting room, but he forgot, cold there too. Kitchen is now too hot, from boiling water in pans to put in the de-frosting freezer!
