    Morning all.

Another glorious sunny day here. 29C forecast again but still a lovely breeze.

I couldn't sleep this morning so was sitting on the balcony with a cuppa watching the sun come up. It did the trick and was able to get back to sleep.

RB, I'm glad your son is improving. " Slowly , slowly , catchy monkey" as my old Chinese nanny used to say.

You're all ahead of me with Christmas preparations. I can never get seriously in the. mood  until after our son's birthday on 19th. This year there is onlyngoingbto be the 4 of us (all adults) and no kids - doesn't seem the same without little kids at Christmas. image

Well that's one parcel arrived (thank goodness as its a birthday present for this weekend) and I've ordered a few Christmas gifts which is going to mean many many trips to the Post Office to collect parcels (wouldn't it be nice that when you ordered things you could specify a day for delivery? I would happily say to everyone on the street "hey order all your parcels to be delivered on Wednesday as I'm in all day then and I'll sign for them all and we're sorted").

Can you remember about five weeks ago I mentioned the noise of haemorrhaging water running through the pipes at home? Every week I've had a phone call from Yorkshire Water letting me know that the engineer hasn't been able to visit this week due to the high work loads. I know (well am 99% confident) the water isn't leaking on my property but aside from the fact that a neighbours house might be about to float away I am rather entertained they advertise how they're trying to reduce water waste...

We've cut our leakage levels by around 50% since 1995, but we still plan to reduce it by another 10 million litres a day by 2020.

... I hope they respond to other leaks faster than they are attending to this leak!

Anyone fancy a cup of tea? Despite the heating being on the house feels so cold (damp clothes drying: one day I will get that tumble dryer I was promised three years ago) I must be keeping PG Tips in business!

PAT: If you want a giggle! We have our dogs Christmas stocking hanging up (hand made) and my advent calendar stockings hanging up. Only trouble is that my partner who brought me the calendar stockings hasn't actually filled them!! So in my house all our decorations are just... socks. Its not feeling very festive (I don't like the decorations going up too early, too much to dust).

That's a good one Clarington. I haven't thought of a stocking for HRH. I can't think it would work. She's almost blind and doesn't hear much either. (sounds a bit like me) and also, she isn't tempted by food treats.  it'll give me something to think about though.

I did collect a pine cone from our Pinus pinea plantation this afternoon, with the intention of wrapping ribbon or wool around it to hang up somewhere, but that's as far as it got.  (Got the idea from GW magazine.)  I do have a Norway spruce down near the front gate which I'm wondering would look interesting with some old tinsel wrapped around it, but wondered if I might frighten the birds.  thinking, thinking.image

I don't decorate early either Clari. Sick of the sight of it all by Boxing Day otherwise. Usually a week before. I always have a real tree but I can't be bothered at all this year. Think the girls are a bit annoyed. I'm turning into my mother ... image image

Get a drier - you won't regret it. The new ones don't use that much energy either, and it's far better for your health (and the health of the house) not having wet clothes everywhere. I hang the odd thing on a radiator first, although that is a pet hate of mine...hopeless mare  image

Oh - and enjoy a bit of time off... image

  • Hi all,

Back in from class, quick bite and then back out again for afternoon one. Still not feeling 100%, OH is laughing at me because I said my cold has gone onto my knees. image Strange but true, they feel all achy and jelly- like, ankles are not much better. image Standing around all afternoon at the Cross Country cheering Charlie & his classmates on probably didn't help - or defrosting the car at 7:00 am this morning to go to the boulangerie. image Tomorrow I am setting up and working on a market stall all day for school, not ideal either. image

Reading all you posts about Christmas decs has set me on panic mode, managed to get Christmas mugs out of storage, get advent calendar up and write card list (in my head), hopefully get a something tangible done by Sunday.

Good luck to Mr. Chicky today. image

LilyP, hope you are starting to feel a bit better but it all takes time, I am sure your OH is happy to help. image

Right, must dash, teaching my group 'shopping' today, have created a bingo card game with shopping trolley style bingo card to make it fun. Think Supermarket Sweep style mad shopping dash. Could go one way or the other. image

Have a good afternoon all. image

Guess what I've just discovered down the bottom of the page?  A tiny little box that says Email me when a response is made?  And it wasn't ticked.  I must have accidentally hit the button earlier.  Let's hope it now works.

Thanks Dove, I probably will have sweet dreams now - it was bothering me before because I just knew I'd done something stupid on theiPad mini.
