You're right Lyn, it took 50 mins yesterday, but I did cover the top for the last 10 mins with greaseproof paper- my oven does tend to get a bit over excited though. Never had a hope of lasting 3 hours.
A 'wee character' is one way of putting it Lesley.
LilyP, Keep at them and good luck.

Look at this face, he was helping me with the rooms today, getting the cobwebs he said - what cobwebs? Cheeky monkey, butter wouldn't melt. Tonight the two of is we are having left over beef & carrots and apple pie, and then going to snuggle up and watch a movie together with some choccies and wine, well wine for me anyway.
Have a good evening all.

We now have the most amazing blazing red sunset over the whole western-half of the sky. We have a large picture window facing west and the whole room has been bathed in pink light
What is more, the rest of the sky is now blue - it's been thick cloud all day until about 40 mins ago when several Tornadoes (from RAF Marham presumably) carried out some very noisy combat-type manoeuvres overhead for about 10 minutes - that seems to have scared the rainclouds away somehow
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Verdun - many years ago (about 25 actually) I was in hospital for a small op. I was scheduled 'to go down' after lunch. Then two patients who were scheduled before me were sent home (they had to get dressed and taxis were called - I found out later one woman had to get the taxi to take her to her husband's workplace on Felixstowe docks as he had the house key). Fortunately they were able to 'slot me in'.
It's not a new problem - if emergencies come in and operating theatres are occupied something has to give.
I don't know what the answer is.

Yes Dove you definitely qualify as a Tops Off chick, so no more of those sensible thoughts
Nice to hear all the memories of wind in our hair while driving (sensibly) although I think yesterday was a wind in my flipping brain...
We had that torrential rain last night and this morning I got stuck into room swapping. Inevitably I needed to visit the dump but I couldn't find my phone and I discovered my handbag was missing. After some faffing about and a very real fear that l'd left it at the garden centre the day before ( with all my bank cards, credit cards etc ) I checked the boot of my car. It wasn't there but it was sitting on the drive, next to the driver's door
I really can't believe I did that, my poor expensive! handbag is now trying to dry out and hold it's form. Luckily it was only an expensive handbag but not a VERY expensive handbag if you know what I mean ladies
I don't know what it will look like when its dry but it was utterly drenched

PS. Yesterday the electric went off suddenly with no apparent explanation until today's roast potatos didn't roast. Oven has died
On a good note, room swap looks amazing. Breath of fresh air
