Wonky, you're amazing! Thank you for sparing the time to think of me when you're up to your eyes in problems of your own. I'm touched. Yes, I made contact with some of the residents (hard to have a meaningful conversation with dementia sufferers though), and observed the interaction between them and the staff. They were very caring and patient, I thought. It can't be an easy job! So from that point of view the home scored highly. We'll see what my sister thinks... and the Home Mum's currently in, have been very helpful, and are in no way pushing us to make a decision.
Right. Before all this blew up I promised soothing photos of Harlow Carr, visited last Thursday, so here are a few...
I love autumn!
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
They say its a compliment if people copy you. Its ok on perhaps one or two things but otherwise I think its rather weird/annoying.
I had someone copy me some years ago, clothes, haircut, dining table and chairs, curtains etc. Then what really p****d me off was my sons names. Thankfully they had to move because of her husbands job......I didn't keep in touch lol.
Lovely pics Liri.
Wonky, hope OH is ok and hope you get a good nights sleep.
Hope all poorly peeps feel better soon.
Panda, best wishes and hugs. Hope day went as well as possible.
Evening all, Lots of rain both here and in Worcester, luckily didn't get wet on the school runs though.
Hope all your problems are sorted soon Wonky and you settle into your new home.
Hosta with a bit of luck that scan will identify the problem so you can get it sorted. I'm still at the xray stage, have to make an appointment to get the results but haven't had chance this week. Planting bulbs with a dodgy knee is no fun.
Liri the home my mum is in didn't get top marks but they are great in the areas that matter most. The staff are very caring, the home is very clean and the food is home made. If they aren't very good at filling in all the forms I don't worry too much. We can only do the best we can.
Night all I'm in a hotel room in Stevenage, feeling very lonely with noone to talk to, so its been lovely catching up on your days' news
Great photos Liri - really hope you find somewhere that you are happy with for Mum soon.
Will be thinking of you on Monday Panda - make the most of your last few days of freedom. Is the cooker fitted yet?
Glad the christening went well Lizzie - sad reason for the England visit, but hope you enjoy the other bits of it. You'll have to dodge the showers though
What are you supposed to be writing Jo? Do we have an author in our midst??
Right - time to try out those pillows - see you in the morning folks
Hello everyone. I've got a cooler overcast day here today for which I am very grateful. I even got a bit of potting on and cleaning up in the garden this morning. I can't work out what is looking misty grey/blue across the valley - light rain or smoke from people sneaking in a last burn off before the hot season really gets going. The breeze is quite cool.
Wonky so sorry to hear that your hubby suffers from Sickle Cell Anaemia. It must be a constant worry for you both, but I'm sure that you've worked out strategies to cope. I'm glad it worked with the electricity company and they responded quicker for you.
Best wishes to all with various problems. I'm off to see the doc in an hour or so, so trying not to be a whimp and anticipate problems that are not there.
Back from Dr appointment and the really good news is that the tests all came back clear. The not so good news is that I'll just have to work my way around the gastric bug that seems to like staying in me rather than going away. I can manage that. Just annoying. So, onwards and upwards!

Thanks Jo. I'm determined to look on the bright side - there's a solution out there somewhere!

Busy day for me, last visit to the job centre (hurrah!) and then off to a funeral. My good friend's mum. Very sad day for her and her family.
Sounds like things are pulling together for you Wonky
Those are lovely pics Liri, I wish you well on your search for a lovely home for your mum
Can't believe the job starts on Monday! Is coming up very fast! Now all I need is instructions on where I need to go and at what time
Have a lovely evening all
