Hi Runnybeak and Hazel, if you're still awake. I'm inside with air conditioning set on 26c and I'm not going out except for the occasional hose change over, I can assure you!   The snakes don't like it that hot either, so they will be in their burrows until evening. You get used to keeping a sharp lookout when moving around outside, Runny, although one year I had a moment when hanging washing on the line and with arms over my head and hands full ofpegs, I looked down and there was a snake slithering up the bank towards where I was standing.   I froze and remembered advice I'd been given by a local, when we first moved here - she said to stay absolutely still. They don't see well, but do see movement and if they feel threatened, will strike. So luckily, it kept going up the hill past me. THEN, I bellowed out to Hubby that there was a snake here and he brought the .22 out and got it.  The sweat didn't start until after that. image

I would rather like 15 degrees at the moment Hazel.

Wow, you're up early Edd, or hadnt you gone to bed yet!  My Latin is a bit rusty nowadays, although I did complete 1st year Latin at ANU before I progressed to ancient history topics. But I get the gist.  My regards to your misses. She deserves to be spoilt.image

    Good morning, Pat and Edd.

A years worth of tablets, Edd!!!!  Still, better than elephantiasis of the gonads.

Pat, like you, I keep well away from snakes, especially in Oz. My friend over there told me not to creep about in woodland, but stomp so the vibrations warn the snake and it slithers away. The worse snake is a startled snake, it lashes out in defence.  I do find sea snakes interesting, very poisonous but only small mouths, you would have to poke it with a finger to get bit.

I'm up early because last night I binged on a whole tub of salted caramel haagen daz ice cream. Not a good idea. I feel a bit sick...

Hello Fidget. Yes about snakes. My policy is to keep a good watch everywhere and to freeze if I see one. I do worry about HRH. because she is so deaf that if I yelled at her to STOP, she wouldn't hear me.  I just keep her close to me outside.

that ice cream sounds yummy, but I wouldn't be game to have a binge - well maybe a bit, but my digestion is still a bit crook from that gastro bug I had a few months ago, so I'd be asking for trouble.image

lousy day today. I've been sneaking out every now and then for some of the washing, a bit at a time. It's so dry, it's almost brittle.

there have been fires on the southern border of ACT and NSW as well as one on the border of Vic and NSW near Mt Kosciusko which they have been bombing with retardant today. Only 17 percent humidity tomorrow, so the whole area is tinder box dry.  It's phewwww! out there!

Edd, I also did Latin at school and agree with Pat, your OH deserves to be spoilt - she has to put up with you, and then she has to put up without you, then she has to put up with you again.  image

Fidget - no sympathy - you could have shared it with us image
