Hmmm, wombats!  I could say good things or I could say other things. When we first got this property, we started fencing off paddocks because we wanted to have angora goats and wanted to be able to control where they were. Well, one thing you learn early on, is that wombats don't like their usual trundle paths blocked by the odd fence or two, and they only have one-way tracks. The upshot is that they dig rather large (goat size) holes under the fence and that there is a way-in and a way-out.  Grr. We would come to the property every weekend and find new incursions to repair each time. image Kept is busy every weekend, though.

    Good morning all, afternoon Patimage

Fidget you made me laugh tooimage.  Pat, how did you solve the wombat/goat problem? I assume you did get the goats because of the mention of sheltersimage.  Look after yourself and take it easy.

Jo if you carry on running about like that you'll be too tired to enjoy your extra day offimage.  When you made your 'bee beds' what size drill bits did you use And have you just placed them on the ground or on a fence?

All our old towels go to the Dogs Trust up the road but I hadn't thought of duvets.  Good ideaimage.

I've just been out to the veggie patch and lifted the cloche cover on the kale and got such a shock. The leaves are huge. I've picked an armful  of it and Hubby is busy chopping it up prior to blanching and freezing. There's no way we'll be able to get through it all  before it goes off.  That's before I even think about the chard and broccolini. I'll look at them tomorrow. Suddenly the weather is very warm and the house heater is off. - exactly 6 months since we lit the fire. image

Lesley. We just kept repairing the fences every weekend when we came down here and where possible filling holes with rocks and whatever came to hand.  Of course, since we haven't had goats now for several years, we don't bother repairing the fences and give the wombats free reign.image

Good morning everyone image G'day Pat image

We buy the best duvets and pillows we can afford and don't change them until they go flat and lose their insulation properties - but they go for laundering every spring and autumn.  We bought a new duvet this year - a John Lewis one with two layers which fix together so we have a choice of three thicknesses - it's really lovely and luxurious to sleep under.  I'm really fussy about my pillow and have to have the exact right one otherwise I get a crook neck (this happened on our recent holiday - I usually take my pillow with me but forgot).  Consequently I don't change them often as it can take a while to break a new one in.  They do get laundered tho image

Morning all! It's looking a lot brighter today than the past few days: it is 5'C mind you. Got the lawn cut yesterday and lifted a few lavenders that have been suffering from being in the path his lordship walks (and you thought wombats are bad). His lordship strimmed the edges, and the rainbow chard.

    At least it looks tidier!

Pat, do I remember that you're a Pavarotti fan?  I don't know whether you have access to BBC Radio 2, but tonight at 8pm UK time there's a wonderful programme - maybe your hubby can record it somehow for you? http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b06cxyyg

Morning all - low cloud/mist now but supposed to brighten again image

You can download the radio too - I often do it so that's also a possibility image

Lesley - I've got a piece of log for drilling holes for bees - a 5mm/6mm or bigger - drill bit would be fine I'd reckon, for different sizes. Think of interior size of canes  imageimage

Might get in the garden later for some pruning and tidying, but I have to go to the bank as well  image  The buddleias are about done. My Acteas/cimcifugas have only recently started flowering - the one under the front  window only started last week. Bulbs to organise too so I'd better get it done before they sprout in the bags  image

Hope all the unwell people feel a bit better today image

Catch you all later for more thong and towel talk...imageimageimageimageimage

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
