I'm competitive in the sense I always want my garden to be better this year than last, but that's about it.

    Devon.

I was cycling back from the shops yesterday when someone overtook me uphill - but she was quite a bit younger than me, and that was only the fourth time I'd been on a bike in 30 years - it still galled me tho' image

A former colleague (20 years younger than me) used to run 10 miles before work every morning and she had a figure to die for - she's recently had two very painful  ops on her feet involving metal and screws, and is now having hip trouble.

Gently does it says Dove image

Verdun, I'm with you on handshakes.

Decades of secateur work has given me a very firm handshake which often takes people by surprise.

I'm sure they're expecting some " limp wristed" shake.

    Devon.

I know someone who was so competitive that when he was advised to take up yoga to help his blood pressure, he started being competitive about how long he could hold the positions compared with the others in the class image

That pool looks horrific. I hate heights. I would have thought you'd need several glasses of champagne before climbing the Shard!

Busy weekend. All the family will be here from tomorrow. We'll have to sleep in son 2's room and Son 2 and family will have to sleep in our room as they have 2 babies in cots, 13 months between them. Our room is bigger and one cot will be in our ensuite! 10 adults and 9 little ones in all. Good thing there are 7 bedrooms in this old farmhouse.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
