  • Panda, I think OH would like to sit quietly in a corner too, but won't admit it lol. He's just wandered down the garden!!

Takeit easy, sending you over some paracetamols or would you like hair of the dog?

  • Got home last night to find the delayed and then delayed again tulip order had finally arrived.  All 652 of them..  It's a good job I have Mon & Tue off work!  The problem now is that I'm going to end-up digging-up myriads of mini-daffs, crocuses and anenomes which arrived and were planted weeks ago so I can't remember where they all are (there were a few hundred of them, too.) image

The alternative is to plant a lot of them in pots and then sink the pots into the beds later once the other bulbs start peeking through.  Need to go out and buy more pots for that plan to work though. image  Oh well, it'll all seem worth it in the spring! image

Hello all. Been very busy. OH's choir is doing it's Christmas Show last night and tonight. I'm helping with costumes and cooking and kitchen duties for the meal. It's in a village hall, but about an hour from where we live. As the English are spread all over the Dordogne there are often distances involved when socialising.

Also I'm helping to organise a carol service in our local abbey. Will be making about 100 mince pies on Friday.

Had a power cut on Thursday evening and boiler and water heater stopped working. Plumber came yesterday. Boiler was a co-incidence, oil blockage, but water heater got muddled by the power cut.

Have to collect my car from the garage on Monday where it's been since the pipe from the lorry went into it. 3 hours drive away. Pain in the neck!

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
  • Yep 4thPanda, I think "my finger must have slipped" when I ordered the bulbs this year!  image About 1/4 the way through the tulips now though. image  I've resorted to digging large holes with the border fork and just tipping them in, then adjusting spacing and making sure they're the right way up before refilling.  It's relatively quick and the existing rooted clumps of other bulbs are coming up pretty much undamaged so go straight back in on top.  I do have a bulb planter but that'd take me until the cows come home and would slice through any daffs etc in the way.

Think we should change your name to Bob The Bulb. As you say it will be worth it in the Spring, I'd have hidden all 600+ in the shed.

Lizzie hope car is repaired properly, enjoy 2nd concert. 100 mince pies? think you'll need more now you've mentioned them on hereimage

Panda hope your head is better.

    Mrs G liking the tree.

    Happy Hellebore day Chicky.

Dove hope you've got some cooking done, I've done my red cabbage.

Lily, fetched you some sprouts, parsnip and cauli, hope that's okay.

Now to start making curry, well it is Saturday..that means I've had it Thurs, Fri (in the log cabin) and tonight. My serotonin levels should be sky high, so happy face all day tomorrow imageimage   image

Nearly bought a real tree in a pot but decided it might be a bit tricky to carry home on the bus.  Raised £34 from our human fruit machine at the fete so glad we did our part image
