    Good morning all image

Well it got up to 29.7C in the shade here yesterday and it's already 19.5C this morning ... wonder what's in store for us today ... the front lawn is looking very dry and parched but I'll just leave it alone - unlike Wonky I'm not being judged this weekend!

OH hears our hedgehogs more than I do 'cos he's such a light sleeper - he says they're very noisy - don't know about coughing, but maybe a slug went down the wrong way ... image

Hello Dovefromabove up at 6 am. in my PJs doing some weeding, stayed at 19 overnight here, midnight heard rain drops on conservatory roof, got all excited! Almost ran outside, lasted about 20 seconds. Verdun, was listening to Radio 4 a few weeks back, (being interlectual, you see!!!) they said Cornwall was separate from Great Britain and had its own language.  My late parents had a cottage at Pendeen, near the  GevorTin mine.(sorry not sure of spelling) Went to Plymouth for weekend to see Grandaughter, bearing in mind I work in a Hospital, dont get many weekends off, Friday, youngest Daughter (who came with grandkids) ended up in Hospital for most of the day, so we were late going, Saturday, grandson 4 decided to have major asthma attack, yup back to local hospital, which luckily was 5 minutes by car, felt like I HAD worked my 2 nights, came back to work for a rest!

Morning all. Clammy but no rain here - yet -  a few thunderstorms forecast for tonight, mainly in the east though so we may miss them.

Nanny B - take it easy today if you can image

Off to work taking older fairy on my way so will try and catch up with you all later.

    Keep cool image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Verdun having a whip round later for you.  Thanks Fairygirl, working tonight, so maybe a bit of sunbathing before I go. My (north facing) conservatory hit 37 yesterday, with all windows and patio doors open, AND one of these air coolant units (filled with ice)

Verdun - just make sure you use that money to help the vulnerable and disadvantaged......and don't fritter it away on doughnutsimage

Meant to be scorching here today, but at the moment there is a strong wind ....strange, those two things don't normally go together.  Having a new garage roof put in today - guys arrived at 6.30, having set off at 3am from Yorkshireimage.  Think that deserved a cuppa and a bacon butty, don't youimage  Wanted to offer them freshly picked blueberries, but OH convinced me that was a mad plan .... so I'm about to eat them myselfimage

chicky, well obviously if you are having a new garage roof thats why its windy!!! Temp is meant to hit 33 plus today here, so glad of the breeze (wind!!) Why are guys coming so far so early to do your roof, is it thatched?

Chicky I have 3 blueberries planted this spring early, mid and late, says they arent fully hardy (bearing in mind I live in the HOT South) so I put them in pots the size it said left them in the greenhouse till early June, all three had flowers, 2 now have fruit, when is it ready to eat?

  • chickychicky Posts: 10,409

Not thatched, just tin (hot tin todayimage - will need to find a cat from somewhere to complete the picture).  Came so far because we couldn't find a local roofer who would even answer a phone, or return an email, never mind give us a quote .....job too smallimage.

blueberries ready when they are blue/black all over - i find the last bit to ripen is the bit where the stalk joins.  Ours have been fab this year - were in pots for the last three years and then liberated into the ground this spring.  Fantastic autumn colours tooimage
