What a fantastic day! Nice and warm, almost 28c in that placcy greenhouse this arvo! Totally overdone it again, dont feel too bad at the mo, thats possibly cos my blood is still full of chemicals! image , my lovely nextdoor neighbour has offered to help me chop down some of the dead and dying conifers in the front garden on his next day off imageimageimage . Ive piled the garden rubbish literally just outside the front door so him indoors cant miss itimage

Yvie, hope you got all you wanted to do done, i was also fighting with an escallonia image

Beautiful plant Matty, found one in a bucket i must have dug up last year, not a patch on yours tho image hope you find your mug image

Fritt, hope your wander round the garden revives you image

Kef, it had me in tears too, but in a way im glad, i think Lyn would say the same, as you know, its soul destroying seeing someone you love suffering. Still sad tho

P'doc sounds like youve had a really nice day, ive noticed peaches and apricots almost in flower and my kiwi coming into leaf on one side of the garden, yet on the other side, the daffs are only just in bud!

Hope you found some motivation Gemma! image

GB, that mash sounds yummy image

Dove and Hosta, ill leave the cheese to you guys, never liked anything other than mild! Agree about best before dates except bread, only like it when its really squishy and fresh, unless its for toast image

RB, my nan used to say the same about chicken, she was from Ireland too! What a fab day its been, hope you had the same image

Hope its warmed up for you Lesley and SGL image

Perki, have you made room for all those plants? image

Youre right OL, enjoy the sunshine while its here, paperwork can waitimage

Just had a well deserved faux cheese and red onion sarnie yum yum image

What a pretty chanomeles Mattyimage.  How about a white geranium for underplanting?

had another afternoon of mulching - have to say the bits I have done are looking very good for it - hope things grow good and strong as a result.  Maybe one more day to get the top border done, then time to start the bottom oneimage

Daffs are looking pretty good, and lots of scillas and chinodoxa now starting to flower ....plus last years forced hyacinths that I put in the garden once they had finished indoors.  They are a much darker blue outside than they were indoorsimage

The area is an approx triangle 2 sides 10ftish. In far corner of garden furthest away from house so really need big and bold so can be seen from house and makes a statement as they will have to compete with a beautiful oak tree

OH found my mug - on a bench but not the one I had been sitting on image

I'm glad I'm not the only one who hasn't been suckered into the whole " best before" nonsense.

All depends on how its kept i think hosta, ive picked up things in the supermarket which were well in date to find they were mouldy! Have also found that things i thought would last forever like packets of dry rice (that flavoured stuff) goes mouldy even when its kept in a dark, cool drawer! image

Matty, how shady is it, would a rose survive? What about honesty? image

that's my point Bekkie. do those who chuck things out at "sell by date" eat everything that's "in date" no matter how foul it looks? of course not.

Look, sniff, taste, seemples, no matter what the " best before " date says

very off topic, am I the only person who couldn't give a flying fig about Richard 111 being re-buried.?

I have to say , I've not heard a single person talking about it, apart from channel 4 who seem to have invested very heavily in it.

Matty, how about Crambe Cordifolia, Nicotiana Sylvestris, White foxglove, White Dicentra Spectablis or White Campanula Persicifolia. The foxglove would only be biennial but it would seed.image
