    That'll be nice BLimage

    Chin up Fairygirl

and I can imagine the brood KEFimage all gorgeous little scruffs

Weather permitted a tidy up this morning. Still clearing away the blackspot leaves, adding dead material to the compost heaps and checked over my plants in the cold frames. Exciting times as I have several Clematis cuttings sans labelsimage so...gonna have to wait on identifying those.

Need to protect the base of newish and newly planted Clematis this year as Flynn loves dashing about and most of mine are not those thickest stems that take care of themselves yet so...I asked OH for something similar to what keeps rabbits off the trees and he suggested a cut up coke bottle...not a bad idea eh?image

Want to get back out in a bit, dig up the last of my leeks for cheesy-leeky-potato thingy that I do and clear raised veg beds for dismantlingimage

Flynn might stay indoors next time...I think I wore him out.image

P.S I saw a robin in the garden today and also a little brown bird that wasn't a sparrow that I think was a wren. How lovelyimage

Cheesy-leeky-potato thingy sounds very tasty Wintersong image

Could it have been a dunnock? I have a couple of regulars here. I've put some cheese and sultanas out for the ground feeders and they were straight in to them. The robin and blackbirds love them too. Re your clematis protection - I used those big plastic water bottle (or any fizzy type ones would do) for exactly the same thing. Just slit them up one side and cut off the top and bottom. I stuck some together to make them taller as it was rabbits doing the damage and they could still reach over the tops. Even some canes popped in round the base might do the trick for puppy paws image

Leaky doo dah fixed, shower been had and heating on drying out all the damp kitchen ceiling. I'm b****y roasting now image

    Morning allimage

Not had chance to delve into the chat this morning - will have a catch up later.  Dog walking, washing and SM done and son has an appointment at the dental hospital - not the extraction yet.  They're still working up to that.

Can just see you now fairy, lounging about the house with t-shirt, kilt and no need for woolly tightsimage.

Hope you managed to get your tatties KEF.

Verdun I expect there will be lots of men standing around the hole looking down it for ages. That's what they doimage.

The plastic bottle sounds like a good idea for protecting your clematis Wintersong.  I have used plant pots with the bottom cut out before but they just look as though they are growing in pots and not in the ground.  I think I'll pinch that one so please thank your OH for meimage

Shame about your visitors LilyP.  Is there stuff you can make and freeze for next time?

Cheesy-Leaky-Potato Thingy is one of my family famous recipes (named by my son when he was young) I'll share if anyone wants.

Thanks for the heads up on the Dunnock Fairygirl, you are exactly right! image What a lovely little thing it is too. Also thanks for the bottle tips, I shall certainly be going in that direction to keep the Clematis happy and Flynn out of the dog house.

Well rain stopped play here, round two in the garden was Flynn-less since he was napping but then OH said he was asking to come with me but the rain was quite heavy. Just enough time for me to tidy up some ivy before being relegated to my pooter chairimage

Dunnocks are quite bold.... and apparently very promiscuous W'song  image

You'll probably have lots of wrens tucked away in your garden - you've got lots of lovely planting for them to hide in. image

Hello folks - I've had a busy morning - caught the 9.30 bus into the city and visited the market for meat and some veg for the next few days.  I also went to Boots for shampoo and lippy, WH Smith for a newspaper and Lakeland for a steam cleaner - it's a good job I had some vouchers for Lakeland - it's right opposite the bus stop image

I was back here by 11 am and have filled the bird feeders and put some ground feed ut as the forecast is for another chilly spell.  I've also got washing out on the line and have been dusting, polishing and Dysoning.  I just thought I'd stop for a mug of coffee and see what yu lot have been up to.

Panda  image- I hate feeling travel sick - that's why I prefer to drive image  Hope the rest of the journey is ok.

Frustrated! Changed into gardening outfit, took Christmas tree to bonfire and settled down to weeding and planting the last bag of forgotten tulips and a few violas. Just got stuck in when it poured. Came indoors, hair was sodden, and rain then stopped, but it's all wet and squelchy out there.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
