Well done Verd.. I had a similar experience when I had a 24 hour ticket and the lazy warden failed to read which day it ran out. I still had 23 hours to go when he issued his ticket. He thought it was an hour overdue. I challenged successfully.
I dislike the appearance of the panels on roofs - however the ridge of our roof runs front to back, west to east, so we have a large south facing roof area largely hidden from view - except that next door are slightly higher up the hill than us so in mid winter it wouldn't get so much sun. I think we need to have that assessed - which could have happened today, but I'm not going to be kept hanging about by people who can't keep appointments. I have fora to noodle about on and knitting to do - I was going to make a Brioche and marmalade bread and butter pudding as well, but OH says can I do that next week, he thinks I'm trying to give him diabetes
I thought it wasn't going to stay dry for long - tipping it down out there now
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I looked into solar panels and was quite shocked to find what I could only call a big scam.
The cost of the components is a fraction of the sale price/fitting costs. Yet companies are allowed to continue fleecing the public by an increasingly disinterested government. They just don't work out economically for the customer. The companies supplying them must be laughing all the way to the bank Put me right off the whole idea, but if I move house I would consider looking into making them and fitting them.
Fair enough if someone can make the numbers work, I couldn't until I looked at the DIY build cost, a fraction of paying to have them supplied and fitted and they would pay for themselves in the first year.
I picked up two chocolate Cosmos today, (never tried them before) as well as three packets of Liatris which bulked up lovely in my garden last year and convinced me to add more clumps.
I steer clear of Oats that can't guarantee wheat free as the smallest amount of Gluten upsets my insides for days. I'm not sure if there is such a thing as a tolerance level since when something sneaks through in my diet, I'm always staggered and amazed that its the most tiny least ingredient and my stomach immediately looks like a football.
Wintersong - sometimes I can get away with a trace amount of gluten with no effects, other times I can tell the chef has been sloppy in his contamination control even though they insist they keep the gluten free preparation and cooking separate. Unfortunately you can't predict it so its best not to gamble! Have you tried peppermint capsules for bloating when you "get gluten'd" ? I'm on Colpermin® which does make a difference in getting my stomach to not look nine months and due to pop.
Thanks Dove: I''ll consider McSweens. I've seen a few haggis from online stores that are declared gluten free but I am loath to order off a site I don't know. At least being a Sunday I'll have Monday off to recover if needed!
Very heavy rain stops any chances of pottering out to hunt garden centres. Its not helping my wanting to hibernate.
That's great news Dove, it should work out for you well
Raining here too now, thought it was on the way when out walking. Glad though as I thought the pond had sprung a leak this morning, then realised for some reason with the strong SW wind it was forming a huge swell and it was just emptying over the edge, the rain will fill it back up.
@Clarington, I've been drinking peppermint tea for years to relieve symptoms but shall certainly look into the capsules, a wonderful antidote by the looks of it, thanks
and have a lovely time GC hunting! Sounds like a lot of fun.
I should have known it was going to be a big "garden centre" when I saw signs for coach parking. Alas mostly full of tat (but somewhere to send my mother should she ever visit us and we need to kick her out the house for an hour or so) and clothes shops but I got myself some more garlic to replace my rather empty looking patch of earth (I shall pot these patch up in pots first to give those in the soil a final stay of execution.
We also have some haggis!
Wintersong: I get them on prescription from the doctor who recommended them but you can get them over the counter. They've not the cheapest but my gosh do they make a difference to me at least and very useful when you can't face tea.

Always room for more plants Verdun!

Also some annual seeds. Can't wait for spring!
@Clarington, stay safe with the Haggis!

Windy day here and raining
Clari - if you want to try McSween's haggis, Waitrose usually stock them.
Son says he knows someone who has a PV solar panel business, and can do really good deals at Mate's Rates - he is going to have a word with him.

Great news Dove
