  • Hi all, murky here, but going into town to buy presses for little ones. Big ones have been told that they won't be getting anything this year as I shall be making a charitable donation instead on their behalf, and I hope they will do the same for me.

Planted new hellebores in conifer corner yesterday and trimmed leaves off established plants. Signs of snowdrop noses. Not long now. Shortest day beckons.....image

    Morning all, grey and damp.

Thanks for pm KEF, you are very wise and kind, although I would prefer to think of you as in Dove's cartoon!

Going to drag myself into town, to try and find pressies for OH.

Roll on the lighter days and my holiday in the sun in January.

I can assure you Pdoc, it's a very good photo of KEF image

Now I have more time in the day, when I go into town I try to find a nice place to have coffee and sit by a window and people watch - don't know why but I always feel a bit better about myself afterwards image

Mine is huge, never get around to dealing with it, but it's not in the flower garden, it's on the verge of the drive by the veggie garden so it can just get on with it.

Been shopping for last of the presents and Christmas bits and pieces. I found crackers!! French don't usually do them. In a shop called Gifi, a bit like the old Woolworths. Tom Smith ones with a little film to tell the French what to do with them. Hope someone buys them.

  • 40 years ago it was very fashionable to plant a pampas grass, no matter how small your garden. I certainly filled a small front garden with one.image

I wonder what today's "embarrassing mistake" plant is? Any nominations?

Sorry Eddimage. We had some pompous grass when we moved in but soon cut it down to size.   I still regret the fact that we made so many ladybirds homelessimage  Didn't see any till we were near the baseimage

  • Pampas grass has the right to be pompous - it's a favourite hibernation spot for hedgehogs!!!

Be carefull when cutting back and make sure first that someone's not living in there image
