  • Hello all,

Absolutely beautiful day here, just seen a bee buzzing around the violas, it;s like summer.  image

BL this part of the Dordogne definitely not given up wine for advent. image

Everyone sounds very organised for Christmas - or getting that way, me too, although had to unwrap a gift posted to Charlie to make sure it was the right one, (sender wasn't sure), had been wrapped so well had to hack at it to even get close to checking and then start over with fresh gift wrap. Was the right thing after all, but didn't dare take a chance - there would have been tears. That sounds ungrateful and fussy but it was a addition to his main present and there are so many options that wouldn't have fitted had to check - if you follow. image

Think Santa smileys might be on the way - app is unavailable so they might be adding them - I say that like I know what I am talking about - but just a wild guess.

Hope the sun is shining wherever you are or at least not too cold. image

Couldnt get anywhere near the motorway island, so instead of main roads,I had to go cross country on minor roads. Only five minutes late for work. I'm up in the derbyshire peaks today. We had what looked like sleet this morning. I think I had better get the snow shovel out of the garage and into the car boot tonight.

  • No sign of Santa Smileys here yet, but Daniel did say the Tech Team is a bit 'snowed under' (see what I did there - Verdun would be proud of me image)

Haven't started wrapping yet - but kitchen has had a good sort out and kitchen floor is no longer covered with detritus, spillages and sticky bits - or painty footprints from a certain artist who uses the studio which is just off the kitchen  imageimage

Now the floor is drying so I'll have to sit here and noodle with you for a few mins image

Can you send me a shot of whatever you're drinking Dove? I really need to clean the house but I could happily nap the day away.

Must get our family secret Santa cracker finished. They specified bad joke!

  • Energy exhausted now Clari - I need to put new greaseproof and puddingcloths on the puddings I'll be distributing tomorrow - but I'm stuck to the sofa - no energy left at all image

  • Again may I impose on you Forkers wot are renowned for their culinary prowess.

Cooked some Sockeye salmon for lunch today and was rather surprised by the results. Although I rarely cook anything in the microwave, I do usually use it for cooking all types of fish.

As normal, I placed this salmon in a heatproof dish with a little water, seasoned, covered it with cling-film, pierced it & cooked it for 3 mins.

During the cooking period there pops & bangs taking place within the microwave and when retrieved, the salmon looked more akin to mashed tinned salmon.

I don't understand as this has never happened with the farmed salmon I usually buy.

Have cleaned the salmon spottled  microwave oven now!  image

  • Nope! image

I will say, there is something quite different in the texture of the Sockeye salmon. ie very fine textured, rather than the industrial stuff with large flakes I'm more accustomed to. image

Do it on the lowest temperature David, it's the air expanding between the salmon meat flakes where it has been boned, that's all image

  • Thanks peeps....I think your probably right, it was boned. Never had the problem before though.
