Was doing some baking yesterday - won't put pics on as is too sad - went to ice the cakes, couldn't find the icing sugar. Too late to buy some. Cakes unfinished and have a bake sale after Advent Service today and now I have two that I can't sell
Panda Label them as 'DIY' icing. Like M&S used to sell Christmas cakes with the marzipan but no icing so people could 'customise' them. You could probably charge more for them that way
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
PD glad the ballet was good, co sidered taking son, he loves theatre and music but we have yet to try the 'grown up' stuff.
Chicky, same company we used for the bikes glad you are enjoying it.
Verdun, do you keep nicking bits of your neighbours garden to fit all hour new plants in? You've said before you like each plant to have its own space - so what's your trick for it not getting overcrowded?
Off to possibly 2 Xmas markets today. First a small one near mums where she will have a couple of her paintings to sell. Second one at 'Kelham Island', always busy and we get in free courtesy of niece who works there. OH working so he gets out of it again. Just going for a 'look' as nearly all Xmas shopping is done ( halo smiley, or smug smiley if there is one!).
Morning all. Beautiful blue skies and sun here but definitely not warm like September!
Last bit of gravel to do today and then might try and get a few more plants in if my body can stand it.
MrsG - you remind me of the time I took eldest daughter to see The Nutcracker when she was about 8. Off we went to the posh Edinburgh Playhouse full of posh Edinburgh folk. She was all excited and I had to say to her to be quiet and not talk loudly. All was well and as the curtain rose she was thrilled and taking it all in. Then a little voice whispered 'Mum - what is that man called?' I answered her and she was quiet again. This happened a couple more times till eventually she asked 'Mum - why is no one talking?' It had never occurred to me that she didn't realise there was no talking in a ballet ! She loved it though and even the posh Edinburgh ladies seemed surprised that a little girl had enjoyed the evening so much without disturbing them!
White's the only hydrangea I like. Love my oak leaf ones.
Shall we tell Edd to 'pass the oranges then' if he's getting a bit cheeky?
Off to see what you've been up to as I've been slightly absent
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Good morning all, bit murky here, but may take opportunity of doing some Chrissy cards, to use up last year's leftovers. These will look different to all the ones on sale and those without good memories will think I have gone to so much trouble to find something different.
I have an ipheon in flower, won it in a raffle last week, and I think my grass has restarted growing. Anyone got any frogspawn?
I was taken to the ballet (Swan Lake) for the first time when I was about 8 years old - wonderful village schoolmistress filled her Morris Minor with children and took us to Ipswich about 12 miles away - we'd learned about the storyline before we went - I was transfixed - loved it!!!

Not long to the 22nd and then the days get longer
Hope all have a lovely dry day.
MrsG - I think Verdun's garden has 'layered extensions' like the Three Dimensional Chess that Spock and Captain Kirk play

Fairy, good heads up about not talking, brilliant story! Will remember that when I do take him to a ballet!
