Did I read recently that Children in need had 90 million quid in reserve? about 4 years fundraising? and that the financial managers got around a million last year for their services in managing it?

If anyone has any spare cash, this girl needs some urgently. Her parents want to send her to America for proton beam therapy. They are willing to sell their house, but I don't believe that should be necessary. The NHS will take eight weeks to think about it, which will be too late.

There is a link to a fund raising page.

The figures re Children in Need are so misleading - the money that's held in reserve is all spoken for - it's been awarded to different projects but they don't just hand over the cash in one lump sum - these are big projects and it's awarded in stages in a  responsible manner.  While it's being held in reserve it's not stuffed in the Terry W's mattress - it's invested properly in stocks and shares etc in order to make as much money as it can - again that's exactly as it should be - anything else would be irresponsible.  And when money is invested in stocks and shares the fund managers get paid - just as the people who manage my pension funds get paid.  All just as it should be.  I read that stuff in the Daily Mail slagging off CIN a few months ago - really nasty mischief-making if you ask me. image

But all that be as it may, the case of the child with the cancer is very sad.  When I was at work I was involved with some children with brain tumours etc, and of course the parents would have done anything, absolutely anything, to try any treatment that just might make a scintilla of difference to the likely outcome.  image

    Morning all xx

  • Good morning all,

What busy days you all had yesterday Christmas is definitely on the horizon, everyone scurrying around getting this and that, liking the sound of a Christmas jumper too, I do have one somewhere, be lucky to find it though.image

Very impressed with Mrs Archie getting a poem published too, congratulations, glad it's kept you off the breadline. image

BN I am determined to finish my cardigan soon so I can start my santa hats, your stuff all sounds very fancy, I am lucky if it ends up looking something like the pattern. image

I am from Sale in Cheshire, it's a ways from Sandbach, I do have a strange accent though I believe as mum & dad were from London and everytime I said glass, or grass or class they nagged at me, should be gl -ar -ss, or gr-ar -ss etc. Used to switch between the two so as to fit in at school and not get in bother at home. image

Playing taxi again today to son, although have a garage sale to squeeze in, some people going back to UK, apparently lot of garden tools up for grabs.

After that leaf raking, awful lot down now, end is in sight.image

Have a good day all work or play. image

    Morning DD and Doveimage

Misty here, but looks like it will clear to a nice dayimage.  I had some bare root plants arrive during the week that need some attention, and plan to tackle another section of the border with a weeding marathon.  With the progress I am currently making I might even be done by the spring.

    but first......another cuppaimage

Good morning image 5C and very misty here I can't see the garden.

There are so many sad cases that we hear about and it is hard to decide who to give financial support to even if you have the money to do so. I make a regular donation to one charity and usually give a small donation to ones that touch my heart or people that have given their time to stand with a collection bucket and valid ID, it's not easy to stand there I know I've done it many times.

DD hope you get some bargain toolsimage I'm not very good at placing accents. The pronunciation of some words irritate me for example drawing drar ring, singing sing ging image I probably say many things that annoy others image

I'll put the soap box away and make more tea image

Very foggy but I think it's to be dry and quite sunny so I may get outdoors for a while. Not been on here this week so will have a look round to see what you've been up to while I have tea and a little something image

Good morning very frosty but beautiful morning.  It all looks a picture.

re C I N   I had my donation in my hand ready when I went to 2 large shops yesterday. Day was there would have been people dressed as Pudsay happy to relieve you of your cash.  Not a soul to be seen! OH who was up in the city said the same.  Why?

heading off to see The Life of Scotland tapestry with a friend today. It's got glowing reviews and bigger than the Bayeux.

Will plan to take out the old broom and replant with philadelphus when ground softer!

Weeds are flowers, too, once you get to know them.”

  • Misty here, but not gardening anyway, as going to a friend's 60th followed by Carmina Buriana concert in which other villagers are singing.... oooh they are such a talented lotimageimageimage. Off to deliver Kew plant stuff tomorrow.

Dove, I did enjoy your intervention. Personally I try to avoid giving any money to Mr. Murdoch. image
