    Morning all.

Verdun, I don't know if you are brave or daft! Why pull up nettles with bare hands when you could wear gloves?

Must go and muck out the field shelter, yuk. At least it's future manure.

    Morning all.

Very cold, but sunny here, trying to motivate myself to go and dig up some Cannas.

    Mornin' All Forkers,

Not good here.  Nasty rain which followed a frost.  OH had to pour water on car to clear the frost from the windscreens.  No chance of walking today with my regular walkers so hoping it will be OK for Saturday's walk.  Although I had already erected my two mini plastic greenhouses which act as coldframes I hadn't zipped up the doors so I just hope the plants will be OK.  Just the sort of day for home made vegetable soup and crusty bread for lunch.

  • Most of our trees are bare now and to the north they are getting snow.I cant believe I actually raked up 6 containers of leaves, about 12 more to go.And yes I doing it very slowly, rake sit, rake sit.I'm saving a few containers of leaves as I use them to line the bottoms of all my large containers in the spring,my plants love them and their roots break the leaves down very quickly. In the Fall they are mulch.

My goodness Bill you put us to shame!image Is there no one that can come to help?

we have 5 Acres here and use a chopping deck on the tractor, after which this either blows away or stays put acting as feed and a winter mulch.

I commend you sir! We were lucky to spend time in your country last year and loved it! hope that the snow stays in the north for youimage

  • Bill - indeed - utmost respect!

Apart from taking the leaves off the netting over the pond I'm leaving them alone until they're all off the ash trees - then I'll spend a day raking and bagging them up for leafmould.   I see no point in doing the job twice and while they're littering the lawn and the Little Wilderness they're available for the hedgehogs to gather up (fewer for me to rake then  image)
